Default engine swap

I have a 2003 honda civic ex. I also have a 95 integra gsr that cannot be driven anymore because I crashed it. The engine and the tranny are still good, but the body is done. I wanted to know if it would be a good idea to swap the engine and the tranny out of my integra into my civic. If so how much will it cost me to do the swap, or should I just take it to a shop and let them do it.

If you can do it right, do it. Otherwise go to a shop. More parts for the B18 than there is for the D17. Daily driver? The D17 gets pretty good mpg. Don't really know how much it'll cost, how well do you know the guy doing it?

Take it to a shop. First there are no moter mounts made for this swap they have to be custom made. And second there is so much coustom work that needs top be done. I would sell the integra as is and do a k swap. But thats me. PLus you get better numbers.

Yeah, that may work, if he didnt live in Cali.

K series is the way. MORE parts than the b or h series, smog legal, and itll stomp the hell out of any B or H.

Its cheaper for that b18 in his integra. He has the motor already. It's true, k series now = more parts, but buying a new motor and installing it is more expensive. If he has the money, then I agree it would be a good idea to sell the integra for parts and use what money he has to get a k20, or the bigger k24. Or a hybrid k24 block and k20 head (my personal favorite), but I honestly don't know if it's a drop in.

i can pretty much guarantee that he will not save money if he decides to put the b18 in an EM2. first of all, you'll have to fabricate motor mounts. then on top of that, it wont be street legal, cuz it is the LAW that you must swap in a motor that is the same year or new than the car itself.

There again, hes in cali, he cannot put an older motor in that year car, or it wont pass smog.

With a K, in the long run, it will be cheaper. B-series= older motor, more miles, more wear and tear, and ALL CUSTOM INSTALL, (I.E. wiring, axles, trans, ECU, shift linkage, modification to the subframe.)

K-series= newer motor, direct bolt in with minimal custom work, same year or newer than '03 motor will pass smog, 200 hp to start with, UNLIMITED superior parts compared to the B, reliability.

It is. Theres a picture thread for straight hybrid EM2's with k series. It will work. It has been done. And when it is done, one hell of a sleeper.

thats glad to hear it's a drop in.

I totally didn't know about that swap law. That's pretty retarded.

I feel like an ***. I also didn't know the em2's accepted the k series that well. I have one, and didn't know that.

Yeah, the CARB (California air research board) Is a **** when it comes to tuning.

Thank God live in Tennessee. But yeah, a swap with a K would be alot easier than any other motor.

I've been thinking lately about getting a project car together, maybe a rex or something cost efficent thta I can have fun with. Maybe a 1st gen teg, you don't see many that look all that great.

this is my last post for today so yeah. Limit 5 for new guys.
