Default Werid Automatic Tranny Electrical Problems help - 94 Accord Automatic

Hear me out, I have had this problem about 5 time since I have owned the car and need to figure it out before I go to Philly soon. I only seem to have this problem on like 75-90 degree days.

I will be drive along, everythings fine, I stop at a red light or something and start to go and the car will barely move. I look down and the D4 light is no longer lit up on my instrument cluster. I have to drop the car down to D1, then manually shift the car to get it to go and ride on D3 til I get where I need to. The only gears that seem to work when this happens is D1 & D3, when you put it in D2 the dash light is lit up but it doesn't seem to shift into 2nd.

Then when I park the car the car will not come out of park, I have to put the key in the shift lock to get it out of park.

Is it possible the contacts in the shifter unit or the brake pedal switch needs cleaned or something. I heard if D4 is flashing the TCU could be bad, but when this happens D4 is not lit, or blinking at all.

I don't think it is an actual tranny problem because it usally drives fine, its only done this a few times since I got the car in July, its just a PITA when it happens and I don't want to drive long trips without figuring this out.

May be 2 diffrent problem
Brake switch as you said.
Interlock switch.
Solenoid problem.

If you have the VIN I can check if there are any open recall if you would like.
Or just call the dealer with the vin and they should help you out.

Just so I know where in the interlock switch located as well? I may just see about getting a spare shifting assembly from a yard and cleaning it all out (contact and such) and installing the entire assembly.

Is there a way to troubleshoot which part is bad, the parts are expensive from honda and want to make sure I get the right thing.

As of right now, my car has been sitting since Sun. and I can't even get it out of park without putting the key in the shift lock and starting it in netrual, and D4 still won't light.

You know when you first start your car and you can hear a slight click when you first press the brake and put the car in gear? I can't hear that slight click anyone and the shifter won't move. HELP!!!

Well last week I dropped in a new shifting assembly (used but included all switched and everything) and everything was fine for a week.

Was driving yesterday in the rain with the A/C on and the D4 light went out on and wouldn't shift (same problem) for like 10 mins, I was driving in D3 and felt my car downshift to D2, so I figure something was going on. So I put it back in D4 and everything was fine again! Anyone have anymore input what this problem may be?

Tranny fluid is full and looks to be very clean, I didn't notice anything around the shifting unit that wasn't connected so I am pretty sure all the wires are OK.

If I can't figure this out soon I guess to the auto transmission shop it goes . I hate having to pay someone to work on my car, I do 98% of all my own mechanical work.

If you take the cover off of the TCU, you will probably find dark spots, where the capacitors have leaked on the circuit board (happened to me). When it happens (while driving), the D4 light will go out. It's when you first start the car, that the D4 light will stay lit (when it's hot inside the car). If the TCU is found to be shot, you may want to find a used one. New TCUs are pretty expensive (from the dealer). I paid $450 way back in 97. Good luck.

OK, I just replaced the TCU, and both the solenoids on the front of the transmission, and like stated before I changed the entire shifter unit. Anyone else have ANY more suggestions.
