the image i got off the internet looks like it is located under the top radiator hose.

 

I beleive its located on the tranny, almost directly below the intake, toward the back.

 

correct, right next to the rear engine mount bracket

 

sorry, i meant to mention its a 5th gen. i will look tomorrow, do i need to remove any parts or can i just change it with the engine bay completely intact?

 

it would be a good idea to remove the intake arm (tube), and its easy..

 

alright, well i found it, thanks yall. its where the "throttle position sensor" on the image is at. that bolt on the underside was a PITA to get to, but all in all it was an easy job. took 30+ minutes to find where it was located, and about 5-10 to actually fix the problem. speedo is working awesome now! now if only i could figure out why the gas gauge decides to sometimes work and other times just flop down to the bottom (way past E).

 

Fuel sending unit is more than likely your problem. Sends the quantity of gas in your tank to the gauge. See if that works.
