Default 95 VTEC. Belts broke, Crankshaft pulley came loose. Now car wont start!! HELP!!!

Hey,
I got a 95 Prelude Vtec H22A1. I was driving to work when I noticed my BATTERY LIGHT came on. I didn't think anything of it, until I got off the freeway and I had no power steering. When I rolled up to work my car died. I pushed it to a spot and checked it out. My belts ( p/s, alternator, NOT timing) were gone. When I looked deeper into it I found my Crankshaft Pulley ( Harmonic Balancer ) was very loose. I bought the pulley and got my car towed home. I switched out pulleys, tightened everything. But it didn't start! So I tried to check a few other things. I checked my dist. cap and rotor. My cap posts were all bent out, and my rotor was broken in a bunch of pieces. So I thought I found the problem, wrong! I replaced them, car still won't start. I just makes a weird sound when I try to turn it over.
So I did a compression test. No compression. Anywhere. When I was turning it over for the comp. test smoke started coming out of my cold air intake?! So I think my ignition timing is off. But I don't think that is the only problem. What else could be wrong? PLEASE HELP!! I miss driving my Lude. I'm sick of mobin' mom's slow corolla.

Check all of your timing, both cam/crank and ignition. I'm guessing you munched the valves though.

This is your problem. The person who assembled the car after the belt change messed up and didn't torque the pulley bolt correctly. hence your f-ed up car. when the pulley got loose the timing belt might have skipped.

good luck..

no you or your mechanic have to open the vc and check out if the valves are gone. Most likely your timing belt has slipped or the gear skipped a tooth.

you are in for lots of fun.

How would I be able to check if the valves are gone? I already have the valve cover off...

did u have the little keyway installed on the crank before putting the pulley back on? Thats my guess as to why your crank pulley came loose, as for why your car isnt starting....check your timing...

just cause his TB skipped a tooth or t2o, doesnt necessarily mean his valves are shot, but if u dont have any compression, then its likely.

someone correct me if Im wrong, but you would still have some compression even if your are out of time...right?

if u still have the problem here are some tips. u have to start from the basiks, take all covers from front of timing belt if u havent jet if u have ok then make shure your marks are right on crank top dead center then your cam shafts then your distrubuter, makeshure its pointing to number one .the problem was when the pully came of it thru all timin marks of,if you dont know hot to aling go to a auto parts and buy a repair manuel it tells u how to do it.

you are screwed man,. if you drove around while the crankshaft pulley was loose, you probably screwed up the pin in the crankshaft. get a new motor.

I have the little guide key for the pulley, but I put it on myself and I think I put it on wrong. Also I don't think I have it tight enough. I heard that the crankshaft pulley bolt is one of the tightest bolts on the car. I only tightened it tight, I didn't torque it to specs... Is there anyway to check if my valves are bad?

Umm at this point I suggest you take it to a professional. I think you've done enough damage to your car. Don't take it personally. Good Luck...
