how to: rear seat removal
this question comes up far too often (use the search!
). i have an autopower rollbar on order so i decided to go ahead and start removing the interior.
the carpeting on the back of the rear seats is help on by little plastic pegs, pull these straight out.
one side removed. see the pegs?
both sides done, the carpet will come right out of the car now.
here is the plastic clip you will remove. it's at the bottom of the seat next to the doors, flip the seats down and look for the pin the seatback rotates on.
here is the pin between the seats that the seat rotate on. push the seat towards the door and the seat will pop off the pin.
popping off the seat.
the seat will slide right away from the wall.
with the seat backs removed, on to the seat bottom. remove this bolt, 10mm i think.
once the bolt is removed, grab the seat bottom from underneath the outside bottom edge and give it a yank. it's sideways, but you can see the clip is being pulled out of the white bracket.
you are done. next time i'll remove the rear interior plastic bits and the rear seat belts. i didn't have a metric socket set handy. this whole job will take less than 20minutes - it's VERY easy.

I took my carpet off of my rears, but it was not to remove them.. Once my seats were removed I layed the carpet back down... It looks cleaner to me, and is not as noticable as having a trunk of bare yellow metal.
A huge thumbs up to people like monkey_truckR and others that take the time to document these how-to's so people like me can always learn here on Honda-Tech.

bleh, this is like a book full of pictures. everybody likes pictures, it makes it easier to see what's going on for our non-mechanically inclined colleagues. helms tells you the basics, but sometimes you can get lost without the details. i'd like to see someone do a valve adjustment using only the helms with no outside advice/experience/pictures/description etc.
i didn't weigh them, but i would guess about 20lbs. i imagine the seatbelts and plastic bits will remove another 10-15lbs. it's not necessary for the interior to be permanently removed for a rollbar install, but you can no longer use the back seats.

dood, you just need to spend $60 on a helm manual.

I just wanted to thank the people here that help other people instead of making sarcastic remarks.

Buckle up the rear seat belts.
Why?
Why?
the rear seatbelts will be removed from the car soon enough.
i drove the car for the first time without the seats, there is a definite increase in road noise similar to having the windows open 1". i look forward to having the plastic removed as well, i'll be the proud owner of a tin can.
