nrg engine damper??
on a few sites i have found that this engine damper will only work with dohc, but on tasauto.com for example it doesn't say at all just 94-97 accord, should this matter? or can i buy if for my sohc??
I didn't even know that TASAuto sold them.
JLB Motorsports on this board has a thread going on about NRG products. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1478866
I'm waiting on a few other mods, then I can do the ECU upgrade.
On a side note, do you think it's worth grabbing a spare ECU to send out to JET instead?

why would you want to do that? if its down time your worried about it was only a day and a half for me, and my friend passed emissions with the jet ecu so you should be good there. how much is the engine damper from those guys, cuz i found one for $79 from http://www.istoreparts.com

It's not the downtime that I'm concerned about. My only worry is that I may not like it, and just want go back to stock shortly after.
I just sent them a PM for a price quote on the damper.

Bet you can even squeeze out some more with tuning.
Your friend doesn't happen to have an auto, does he?

I have yet to see one from NRG be used.
I know that with some others, custom brackets had to be made.

you can mount it anywhere but i want to mount it to the firewall cuz my engine shakes front to back not left to right, i don't want to buy something and then have to deal with returning it

??? there's nothing user-tunable about the JET ECU upgrade.

No, it doesn't fit, I'm in the process of working with one of the ppl from NRG to get a bracket to fit the SOHC. The problem is the engine side mount. The original bracket they send with the kit doesn't clear the cam cover.
no he doesn't have an auto, the way you can tune it is if your using a vafc hack or something of that kind then you can tune the chiped ecu..i guess ill just wait till nrg gets that new bracket then

Hence why I bought a V-AFC II.

Look what I found.
In this set, the bracket that mounts to the strut has to be reversed. The owner has now fixed it.

The owner of this one has turned the actual damper itself around since the taking of these pictures.

What year accord is that? And is that really effective? I mean the whole point is to mount one end to the engine and the other to a stable position like the firewall or off the control arm bolts. But this person has it mounted on the alternator so does that mess with the effectiveness?

Crap, then that doesn't really help me since my gf has a 5th Gen

that's cool..so you can make it fit, the only thing is that wouldn't be very effective would it? if you have only one damper on the far side of the engine the other side is still able to shake, so you would either have to buy 2 and mount the other one the other side of the engine or find a better place to mount it.
Just talked to the owner of the Accord in the first set of pics.
The strut bar is in the way, so he can't flip the bracket around. He would have to cut the bar in order to get it to fit like the way it does in the second set.

It's just for looks right now.
I'm going to wait until I get my ECU, and basic mods done, then I'll have it tuned. Found a shop that is just over an hour away that'll do an AFC tune for $190.

did you happen to ask if adding it seemed worthwhile performance-wise?

Of course.
clean2draccord: not really, its hard to tell a difference
clean2draccord: most of it is psychological haha
The people who have it on V6P.net are bragging about it, though.
I finally got my NRG damper installed, and let me tell you, the difference is significant. (His is installed very similar to clean2draccord's)
it sure keeps the engine still! cuz when i had my car dynoed i kept watching the engine and it hardly shook when he floored it!!!
So it seems if you have a hefty strut bar, you will need to make a custom bracket for it to sit perfect.
