i've seen this a couple of times... one theory is that with high horse power the tranny shafts start to pull apart in 4th gear and when that happens the teeth of fourth gear mesh at the tips which is where they are weakest and they shatter... buck02 makes a tranny craddle... it eliminates 5th gear but should solve the problem...ive installed one and it's pretty straight foward...
this is also a street car , so I dont know how it will be with out a 5th gear , Iam going to weld some braces on to the case tomorrow and see how that go's , I think if I guesst it across at the end about where the "hand cuff" would sit , and I guess if it dont help , then atleast I will have to get one and bite the bullit and loose 5th gear ,

http://www.libertysgears.com they make a 5th gear handcuff which is more precise than the phantomgrip cuff. it give the gears proper "lash" instead of binding the shiot out of them. you can also clip the countershaft back into the case half,(unlike the phantomgrip cuff) liberty also has great customer service, and will answer any questions you might have on your installation.

in the hotrod we are running a circuitworx 4.7 final/stock hydro b16 gearset/liberty cuff/28's .... 4th gear remain the same, you shouldnt need to shift into 5th on the track.

I see well I made some braces for the case today , I will have pics up of it later , but just by putting it in gear and turning the input by hand you can tell the gears are biteing deeper into the gears

Well I made this today , I figure I would give it a shot , lol I figure it is kinda like a "CUFF LINK" just on the out side , hehe tranny feels like it shifts more solid and gears feel like they mesh alot more also ,

if it shrank at all I could not tell , it slid on just like it did b4 , so far when shifting it feels realy firm , alot more firm then b4 and still shifts like butter , I figure what is the worst that will happen you know ??? it will just break again , haha

I did it about 4 years ago, didn't help. I find it pretty hard to belive that you can feel a difference in shifting it though.

, what are you running for a trans ??
