and a big hammer. theres a reason its called the bitch pin. the higher the car is the better swing you can get.

A punch tends to add to the pin's resistance to move. Get a cheap punch, grind a collar into it to fit inside the pin, then give it a few whacks.

I use a piece of round bar that's a hair smaller in diameter that is approx. 4 ft. long and give 2 shots from the top. Hasn't failed me yet in 8+ swaps.
You may want to support the shift linkage while hitting it.

Use an a/c compressor-to-block bolt as a punch. Works everytime, it's tapered at the end, I can usually get the "bitch pin" out within 2-3 minutes using it.

Take the tranny out with the linkage, then take the pin out, it's a lot easier. It's not hard to pull the tranny with the rod, just hard to get it back in.

Best damb tool period! I find that bolt works better than any punch.

if you cant punch it out you can always drill it out and get a larger pin at AUTOZONE or HomeDepo

How I got it:

_use a punch
_get the car high enough for a good swing
_do it while the car is "warm"

I like the A/C bolt idea, I think I'll try that some time.

That's what I did when I did my swap. Just undo it from the shifter. (two bolts)

it's much easier. Just gotta watch out for the x-member.

Just replaced my shift linkage at 12:00 last nite and that pin drove me nuts. BTW, all i used was a small punch and a hammer.

I don't understand how everyone has so much trouble with this pin? I have used a punch and hammer for years on many many many hondas and NEVER had a problem yet.

Do you use a lift? the extra swinging room makes the world of difference.

Go to Sears and get a "roll pin punch".

Then you can easily tap it out now that you have the correct tool.

Nope, not yet anyhow. Just jack up the car a bit further and put some muscle into it.
