look like the vtec could be set @ a lower rpm to get rid of that plateau/jump on the graph.

good job guys

Looks like the ignition was breaking up or boost wasn't holding care to explain?

This is a brand new motor. We broke it in on Tuesday. He just wanted to see what it would do on pump gas. This thing at 30 psi is going to tear it up.

I was having some issues with the boost being stable. But I think we got it figured out. The passes made at high boost were creeping up to the posted psi (28 psi pass was mostly 25-26 psi for most of the run) but I am happy with what it puts down for the moment. and will fine tune it after I straightened out and post an update.

Thats not VTEC, thats just the turbo. You an see VTEC before it at around 4800. But yeah, it jumps around 240 hp in a 1000 rpm spand!

I think Dave was saying it was due to the AEM beging set to a boost comp map and there being small fluctuations in the boost levels that the map sensor was seeing. The long top mount manifold could contribute to that.

SuprDave's secret Haltech tuning method:

LOL!

everygraph that you posted has that jump. its the vtec coming on tooo late. we run a GT42 on our cars so i know about boost coming on hard, and it doesnt look anything like your graphs.

VTEC is at around 4800 already. This is a SC61. Your GT42 is A LOT bigger. They will come on different. I'll let Dave try and explain since he was the tuner.

maybe its cause the b16's are struggling to spool up them turbo's ? the gsr graph doesnt seem to have a big of jump like the b16 graphs do.

here is my ls/vtec t3/t67 graph for comparison.

Its a 1.8L 89mm stroke B16. It spools it up FAST. You're comparing a GT42 and a T3/T67. Look at how much faster the SC61 comes on compared to the T3/T67 from the last dyno I posted. They are both 1.8L engines at around the same amount of boost. The SC61 is making peak tq at around 6100.

that ls vtec graph stil shows a 200hp jump within a 1000 rpm and that is dyno is 100 hp les than mine which we would be about the same as mine at higher #s you will see a possible 240 jump in hp also.

mine is a 1.8 also but I don't know what your talking about 1.6s for anyway Ricks b16/35r combo is very nice and comes in the same as Dans b18

im talking about all of your graphs, not just one of them. if i could find one of our gt42r dyno's id post it. we dont get a little "plateau, then jump" im talking about the first bumo on each plot.

even on my t3/t67 pump gas tune. it look like the vtec should came down a bit more. ill fix that next time im there.

On Rizzo's car...that's the EBC pulsing the solenoid, trying to hold the boost steady ona car that's boost creeping like crazy.

Once it holds steady boost it'll be fine.

These were all big turbos on small motors...moving VTEC around isn't gonna do much when they are spooling at 6000rpm...haha.

PS: Noone races at 4500rpm.
