Took the night off from working on the car (I need to save a little work so I can thrash Friday night - makes the whole experience more fulfilling) - and went to our giant new/used bookstore and came away with "Honda Motor - The Men, The Management, The Machines", "Brabham Ralt Honda - The Ron Tauranac Story, and "Paul Frere - My Life Full of Cars".
I also spent an hour digesting a book on race car aerodynamics - had to draw the line somewhere.
I also had a wicked idea. It's one of my goals to have some smartass fun in pre-grid. I found a book by Hilton (who apparently writes psycho-sexual race car driver worship biographies) - and it's got the word "sex" (heh-heh) on the cover. It appears to be full of "fascinating" interviews. I think it would be fun to carry this thing around pre-grid reading it, walk up to someone I want to psych out and start reading something juicy out loud to them (or inventing something if the author hasn't provided anything quite juicy enough). Kind of carry on like I'm using the book as a guide or textbook on how to be a racer - and just take it to the absurd. Jerry Lewis comes to mind. Then of course I'd better drive a pretty good race eh?
Still gotta hook up my fuel test port, finish my alignment, pre-oil, and then load up. I used a piece of diamond plate to make a package tray for the rear seat area to protect those wires - came out pretty good. Mounted a Wink 3-panel on some Joe's like mounts - I hope the 3-panel is short enough to escape vibration problems - I've got some foam to shim it with if not.
The last weather report I saw said dry this weekend. Then I heard that a big storm would hit with rain and wind. I don't care what it is anymore - I'll take what I get. My race groups aren't back to back this time, so I'll have just enough time between qualifiers and races to swap tires if necessary.
Scott, who can't decide which book to read first.....surely one with Honda in the title......
