Default Oil cooler installed

The cooler install went very smoothly. Of course, I had SGT's help! It only took a few hours, not including the excursions for Home Depot, and eats.

Another big kudos to Stephen!

That's purtty. Won't you want to protect it from flying bolts with something?

Well, if that Miata wrist pin didn't put an end to my radiator, I doubt anything will.

Err, yeah, of course, now that I said that...

Thanks!

Yeah, no AC garbage to get in the way

The cooler is a 19 row Mocal from Racer Parts Wholesale.

The filter is some Puralator made for Fords. It's HUGE. I have 6.5 quarts of oil in my system now.

Alternate filters for the remote mount:

Purolator L30001, WIX 51515 (NAPA has a relabeled version of this), Hastings LF115, Kralinator L23 or Fram PH8A
Purolator Pureone PL30001
Tips:
Don't buy angled AN connectors. I saw this in another oil cooler install on here. That's expensive! Screw that Buy the angled elbows and straight AN fittings. I used 1 45 degree and 1 90 degree 1/2" to -10 elbows. The rest were 1/2" to -10 adapter fittings. Use teflon sealant on the threads for the pipe fittings, but not on the compression fittings.

Make sure you have some seriously long drill bits & bolts. We mounted through the frame rail up front.

Some of the filters that fit the "PH8A" spin-on mount are "racing", non-bypass types, which might be a good idea. I also like to install an in-line screen filter ahead of the cooler, to catch the chunks if something breaks. It beats buying a new cooler.

Hard to tell from the pic - what did you attach the cooler to? I like the sideways mount, makes things easier (and less $$ in AN fittings)

Now, where would you put that cooler if you had and intercooler and A/C to deal with?
I'd almost be willing to give my car a third passenger light (hole) for that purpose if there was enough room!

Attached the cooler to the radiator core support on the bottom w/ zip ties and one zip tie up top to a stock hole near the hood latch.

Don't bolt it down.

I don't think there is any need for an inline filter. The flow is spin on -> filter -> cooler -> spin on.

Enough folks have told me to protect the cooler & radiator. I guess I'll go break out a $5 for some neon color chicken wire.

TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!

Waren...that was me buddy....I just love those 27 dollar fittings!!!!.....NOT. I felt I had no other choice since I made it a point to not drill a hole or remove a single piece of factory installed "'stuff".

was is over kill...yes...was it exspensive....yes....was it worth it....to me.....yes

The Mustang guy has to contribute with what he knows, right?

That could be helpful to someone though, so
