there is no replacement for displacement 1.8>1.6 all day.

boost could be replacement for displacement though, but since you posted in a all motor thread, then 1.8 !!!!

Im assuming your talkin about GSR & B16

Is this purely a long block comparison? If so, then the obvious choice is shoot for the larger displacement.

If you are considing a full swap, I highly considering the B16. The gearing in the B16 will easily overcome the power deficit between a b16 and b18c1. You can build up a B18 shortblock to swap later. But similarly, you could swap a B18c1 and swap tranny later, but in my experience people are less inclined to spend money on the tranny, even when it will boost acceleration considerably more than gobs of other motor modifications. Its all a fine line which every you choose, but ultimately I think sharing your goals and use would help your recommendations.

im talking abaout the whole swap. I am just planing on putting the engine in for right now and put a couple of bolt ons on it and have it as my daily driver. In the future i plan on getting a couple of other upgrades to the engine but i am keeping it NA.

Get a B18A/B 81mm bore Short block or a B20B/Z Short Block the B20B is a 2.0L 84mm bore the b20b and b18b have the same Crank 89mm

Dont whats you Time and Money on a B16A 1.6L whast of time and it does not make that much power all motor i seen 190 to 210 Whp very hard to make power all motor

I maybe reading into your comments a little too much, but it certainly sounds like you are trying to keep things simple and modest and reliable, and wil rely on bolt-ons for the most part, with perhaps some head or/and valvetrain in the distant future. Are you paying someone for the swap labor, or are you DIYer?

If you are paying someone for swap and money doesn't grow on tree for you, I would seriously choose the B16. Sure you won't have the bragging rights of pimping a B18 GSR, but you will be beating their butt on the street, thanks to your shorter gear ratios and shorter final drive. There is a good article explaining transmission gearing by Bense:

so if i were too strap on a b16 tranny onto a b18c1 would that be even better? and why do some people do the opposite, putting a gsr tranny on a b16?

You take a B16 tranny and a B18c1 long block and you have the best of both swaps.

People will swap taller GSR gears for high power applications (ie turbo), as this helps traction loss and can improve 1/4mile times by better spacing of shift points and keeping them out of 5th gear. Some just swap in 5th gear for low rpm highway cruising.

so if i can get that you would say definitely do that? But if, and say im putting it in and want the best motor with just a few bolt ons(i/h/e, im, cams, cam gears) then what engine would do me the best?

You do realize the final drive is the same, correct?

First there is no "BEST" motor. "Best" should be banned from use on all auto boards. Now if you want the motor/engine with the most potential for power (between the B16 and B18c1) then everyone else has answered your question. B18c1

I, and maybe you forgotted one thing, Rpm. Because torque x rpm= power.
