1994 Prelude H23 into 1991 LX?
As it states. My buddy has a 5-speed H23 in his Prelude and wrecked up the outside, my brother has a 1991 5-speed Civic LX 4 door and we are looking into a possible swap. Is that motor too big for the engine bay? Anything tricky to this swap?
BTW-we have done many-swap- in our day, so if its at all possible, it will be done. Just lookin to make sure its possible.

May already have crossed your mind, but I would look into trading the whole Prelude for something with a B-series that you could use, or trade the Civic LX and get an EG or up.
i think hasport finally made their mount kit available to everyone, so that is a plus. i believe that it requires you to weld a portion of it in though, which is a major downside. either way, a b series would probably be a better choice, simply for the fact that it bolts in. i think the h series mount kit from hasport is still really expensive though, like 2x the price of the b series mount kit into the same chassis. just some stuff to think about.

Thanks for the input guys. I have always been a Bseries fan, and have built/swapped many in my day, however the circumstance here with the wrecked Prelude where we can get the motor for basically free and this Civic just being a daily, it makes alot of sense to try this as a different swap.
Ill look into the Hasport kit, and as far as welding goes, thats not a problem, i have full access to a welder.
I guess the main question is this, with the kit and a welder, can the motor physically fit in this engine bay? I know its a larger engine then the Bseries...
Thanks again

Yep it fits.....there's a couple guys that have put H22's into CRX's. This would be no different. Apparently there's a lot more to it than just welding the mounts though.....custom fab after custom fab if I remember correctly.

The welding for this kit is actually not a big deal. You just drill out the spot welds on the original transmission mount, bolt the Hasport mount in using the battery tray bolts as locators (they are not strong enough to hold the motor), and weld the passenger side mount in. Other than that, I hear you have to bang some stuff to make clearance for the drivetrain. Regardless, this should be a good swap. That H23A makes the HP of a B16A with more torque than a B20. It should be a GREAT motor for that Civic.
