REX HAS BEEN SOLD!!!!
1989 Honda CRX SI
ZC engine swap
162k miles on body
60k miles on ZC engine (no proof, but I have cylinder compression test results)
clean title
VIN: JHMED9364KS013483
NOT REGISTERED (PNO with CA DMV)
Still has tags until end of April 2006.
Completely stock except for:
ZC engine
Sony CD player
FAT FIVES HAVE BEEN SOLD! See updated pix below.
Details:
The engine runs fine in gear but revs high at idle (2kRPM) after warming up for 15 minutes. I think it's a vacuum leak but I haven't found it yet and I don't have time to work on it. If you come by and don't want the car but can fix the high idle,
I'll give you $50. At present it does not pass smog but I still have tags until the end of April 2006. There is some rust on the rear passenger side quarterpanel, typical of many older CRXs. The car was also rearended by an idiot driver. It's barely noticeable but the back bumper is wrinkled a little bit. The rear hatch opens fine. The rest of the car is
in solid condition. The sunroof works with no problems, the rear hatch
shocks were recently replaced so it doesn't slam on your head. I have
kept a detailed record of everything I've done with this car over the
past 3 years. The following items have been replaced with the past
10k miles:
New Clutch
New Flywheel
New Timing Belt
New Axles
New Catalytic Converter
New Muffler
New Battery
New Air Filter
New Spark Plugs
I also took an engine tune-up class at El Camino last fall an have vacuum
and compression data on each of the cylinders.
Cylinder Pressure % leakage
1 170psi dry 10
2 175psi dry 20
3 165psi dry 24
4 165psi dry 10
This is my 3rd CRX and it pains me to have to sell it because it quite
possibly the best daily driver ever made.
PRICE: SOLD and will throw in the carseat covers too
I also have lowering springs available for more $.

Passenger side rear quarterpanel does need some body work. I drove this as my daily driver so I didn't care, but if you want to build this show quality then grab a sander and some bondo.

Issues regarding smog: I took the car to get a smog check in March. It does not have to go to a Test Only station, Smog Check (more lenient) will do. In March it failed on several counts:
1. I don't have a timing belt cover so presently you can't check the timing. Luserkid helped me put it on based on piston and cam position so it runs fine, but may be off by a few degrees. The timing belt cover can come from a D-series engine and I've been meaning to take the one off from my old SI engine but the crank pulley is a pain.
2. The idle fluctuates after 15 minutes of warming up. Sometimes it will stay high at 2000rpm and occasionally there is a slow roll from 500 to 1500rpm. This may be a vacuum leak or some seal/gasket somewhere. I found that the PCV valve was cracked but after replacing it there was still a problem. I did clean the IACV and the throttle body but that didn't work either. Maybe there is something I didn't think of.
3. The emissions failed on hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogenoxide. This is probably due to the high idle though. I poured in a can of the "Gauranteed to Pass" fluid from Autozone so maybe that clears things up a bit. The cat and exhaust was replaced less than 10k miles ago so they should still work.
