crx ride height issue
well i thought of posting here as it seems more relevant to a crx.... i tried to ask the suspension forums but their answers are not specific to my crx...
here is the scenario , i replaced all the shocks with new H&R race springs and KYB agx , installed everything like what is said in the H&R instructions that said i shouldnt cut the bump stops (stock)..... but after putting the car on the ground i realise the rear is sitting like stock height or maybe a little higher....
can anyone help me out on why my car is doing this? the front seems to be normal... this is a 1990 crx dx with no rear interior ( which i dont think those plastic bits will weigh so much anyway)
here is a picture to illustrate what is happening , i have been trying to check everywhere from forums to taking out the suspension twice to see what went wrong.. i torqued down everything to specs
this is driving me nuts..

holy hell that thing is sitting high as eff. Well i had a problem similar to yours. What i did, was took everything apart and cut the bumpstops down. Also it takes awhile for your setup to set. which will eventually lower a bit.
so is that my only option that is to cut the bump stops?...... i mean the instructions says not to but if that is the only reason then i guess i will cut it...
it's already 1 month since i installed it...
and i thought H&R race springs will tuck in the wheels....guess crx are just plain too light

the h&r race were great springs for driving..loved the way they felt
I had the same problem with ride height, however - the rear didn't drop whatsoever
but hey, sometimes that doesn't matter

nowentaquit....... what number is it on your springs?
it's crazy why the race is suppose to drop them down instead its held up high....
purplerterror suggested to remove the rear dust boot... that will lower it down by quite a bit

----------- Just me or is your rear spring completely collapsed in that picture?
(not sure from the pic if that is even what i'm seeing).

havent tried the dust boot but plan to either ditch the dust boot or the gold ring thighy that holds the dust boot up.

I have KYB with ground control springs and I have the same problem. It doesnt look all that cool but in my case its probably helping me out cause i take mine to the drag strip and some people lift up the back like this so it wont go down as much when you shift gears.....so if anyone says that it looks stupid or whatever, tell them you care more about performance then looks....haha

lmao thats fucked up, the "lowering springs" are fully compressed and the height is like higher than stock. my 2 guesses would be as stated above already...
the front and back springs are designed differently because they have to support different weight. the front springs have to support a lot more weight then the rear ones do, so possibly you got a front spring on the back. either that or you just plain got the wrong spring. OR you just simply incorrectly installed them? this is kinda obviouse, but i would compare the new h&r springs with your stock springs and see how much smaller in size the h&r are. for me i got some lowering springs off ebay, and they were a little more than half the size of my original springs, and i had a nice drop, but im sitting on 13's, so i still got a 2 inch gap or so
. but im also running kyb but its gr2 and no the agx.
this is a funny problem, which is also another reason why these kinda things should be professionaly installed if your not too experienced in suspension. not saying you didnt install them right, could be the spring itself, but you know what i mean.
and do not cut the bump stops. they are the only things that are keeping the shock from going right into the frame
if you ever figure it out, give me a holler on what the problem was
good luck man!!!!

Those rear springs are either for the wrong car or have been installed wrong. Look at the space between the coils. They are about 1/2 apart. They look like coilovers that have been improperly adjusted.
First off, if cutting the bumpstops lowers the car any, you have a problem. The car shouldn't be sitting on the bumpstops normally, there should be more shock travel than that, especially at the height it's at in the pic. Like someone said, get rid of the dust boot. You can cut it off without removing the assembly. My friend has H&R on his EF and the front sits pretty high, similar to stock, but the rear is lowered about 1-1.5 inches. His car is completely gutted, nothing but a wheel and seat.

Are you retarded? The point of ground controls is that you can adjust the ride height, so I don't see how you could have this problem. They also come with Eibach springs that I know for a fact won't do this to your car.

I agree, the coils look way to close. Check the number on the springs and make sure you have the right ones.
