i would say all motor, more reliable, when you go turbo, there more problems to run into, and if it isnt done right, ***** gonna break all the time.

personally if i saw an all motor teg, hang with a turbo teg, i'd give way more respect to the all motor,

is it true that a well tuned ls/vtec, vs like a greddy bolt on setup, that the ls/vtec will keep up with the turbo?

Great first post moron.

It comes down to money really, if you dont have ALOT and expect 300hp, go boost...getting 300HP outa a NA engine would take QUITE alot of work and money.

The only problem with running high compression and boost is that there is less room for error in tunning. For example look at Tony the Tiger car, hes running high compression with a turbo.

It all comes down to how much do you want to spend? With the right amount of money and percautions taken both setups could be fast and reliable.

High compression and a turbo work just fine, you just use lest boost pressure to obtain your desired HP goal.

I have a high compression (11.5:1) LS/Vtec turbo and it runs just fine. All the benefits of a high compression motor off boost with the benefits of turbo on boost. Combine that with a XSi trans = lots of fun.
Tune it right.
It sounds like you're just starting out in the field and don't know very much. I suggest doing some searches.

i think turbo requires more maintanence because of the turbo timer and all. plus lag

i'd choose N/A

He's a ******* douschebag. Thats more thrne elaborate enough. a TT has nothing to do with a turbo build in that sense, and turbo lag = traction control. Pick a turbo that fits your app well, and no turbo lag.

If your going to make a statement like that, you should atleast exlpain why.

I agree turbo is better if your dragging or if you want 300+ hp. But for other situations RR or Auto-X or if you want power throughout the entire powerband imo n/a is better even more so then getting a smaller quicker spooling turbo.

hmm somehow what i said came out wrong.

even though N/A costs more, i would still want the pleasure of building it. and most people i know with a turbo have lag but they wont do anything to fix it. thats why i lean more towards N/A.

Turbo lag really isn't an issue. At the right rpm, the turbo only takes a second to make full boost. I think you are refering to boost threshold, which is the rpm that the turbo will spool, and make full boost. A small turbo on a LS will spool at 2500 rpm, and a larger turbo sometimes won't make boost until 5000 rpm, but when it does, you will take off. A small turbo won't make nearly as much power as a larger turbo, but it comes online instantly. If you want low boost threshold, and big power, try getting a GT ball-bearing turbo. YOu can run a good sized turbo, and it will spool up 1000's of rpms sooner, and it will pretty much eliminate turbo lag. They are extremely expensive, but well worth the money if you hate a high boost threshold, and want to make big power.
