VIPER alarm Troubles
well my remote broke off my keychain, and i was wondering if i could get a new remote and how to program it, i read the instruction manual, and it didnt say anything about it.
Open a door (door must be open)
Turn the key to the on position
Press the valet button 8 times then hold it the ninth (you will hear 8 chirps)
Press button 1 on the new remote (you should hear a conformation chirp)
Release button and turn off ignition
This is the auto learn for a transmitter. By pressing button 1 it will auto learn the remote. For more detailed remote proggraming see the install guide page #33.

i think an 800 hf takes a 475, but dei doesnt make that one anymore. did it have a red or green led on the remote? i think if it was red(it should be unless you had a late model hf) your remote is a 475 and you have to replace it with the v60 remote. if it was green then your remote was a 485, which dei doesnt make anymore either, but the new 4 button viper remotes (not sure of the number) will work . i think the green led remotes didnt come out until the 800 esp(very late hf also) units. also I wouldnt trust the programming number the previous guy gave you since you didnt say what alarm you had yet, but the method is correct. also i dont think the new viper remotes are available with 1234 buttons anymore(could be optional i havent needed one and havent checked) they come with lock, unlock, aux, star, or panic. I still have my 800 hf install manual in my toolbox at work if you need the programing #s let me know.
yeah i bought the car with the alarm on and i have no idea what to do with it now that i need a new remote, i would need all the help i can get, and thanks for your help 5thgen, it is a green LED?
Well that sucks, the 800HF is not even in the DEI owners guide database, however it does show up in their remote x-reference guide, from "date code" 5H-7L the 485T is the replacement remote.
5THGENSI are you saying the there is a replacement remote for their replacement remote?

i just checked dei's replacement guide, its says 485m(v60), or a 491t. anyway we use 474v at work to replace the 485 that came with it.

I do not know if any of them are the right one, I suggest you call the 1-800-283-1344 number, [10:00AM-5:00PM PST] DEI gives you to speak to your local dealer about ordering the proper remote for your alarm, have the alarms model and date code ready, if nothing else, you can find out what the right remote is, and if you have the right one, why it's not working.
One thing to keep in mind, some DEI alarms have a programing jumper, that has to be in the right spot to be able to do any programing, others like the 800ESP may need the "PC interface module" 998T to "unlock" the transmitter learn routine, before a remote can be programed.
