Installing my Viper 690VX alarm and have a couple questions? Help please!
I would first of all would like to say if I get all the answers I need I will do a write up, so help me out and I will help everyone else out!
I had a 2000 Honda Civic hatchback dx with a Viper 690VX pager alarm system. I now own a 1996 Honda Civic hatchback cx and am wanting to install the alarm in this car. I know which wires were spliced so I just need to know which wire is which. Questions below......
The harness going to the "brain" of the alarm looks something like this:
Orange- Goes to the starter kill relay (harness shown below *pre-wired)
White- Parking light wire, this would connect to one of the sockets in Pic1) but which one?
Green- (-) door switch wire? Pic3) Is this one the negative or positive wire?
Violet- (+) door switch wire? Pic3) is this one the negative or positive wire?
Black- Ground (I know where this one goes)
Yellow- Also goes to the starter kill relay (harness shown below *pre-wired)
Brown- Siren (I know where this one goes)
Red- Constant power, would this one connect to the green wire in Pic3)?
The harness going to the starter kill relay looks something like this:
I am having the most trouble with this part, everything here should connect to the wires in Pic2)? Yes/No?
Explanation in Pic6)
Green- Key switch (+) switched ignition ?
Black- To starter motor ?
Yellow- Connected with the yelllow from the "brain" harness then should go to what?
I beilive one of these gives off constant power, one constant power when the lights are on and I'm not sure about the other two. Is this right? Also which one is which?
Pic1)

These are the wires that have been sliced on my previous car.
Pic2)

The Teal/Red wire and Green wires that are spliced go to the pictures below Pic4 and Pic5. Is the green and red wire for constant power?

ok...here we go...
im just gonna kinda breeze through this, but if u have any questions pm me..
12v- red wire on ur alarm- goes to white wire coming off ur ignition harness.
Starter-(that relay box)- find the black/white wire coming off the ignition harness cut the starter wire in half ur black wire=starter side, green=keyside
Ignition-(yellow wire coming off relay box also)-goes to black/yellow wire coming from ignition harness.
parking lights-ur white wire goes to the red/black wire in the driver kick panel.
doorpin-ur green wire(-) goes to the blue/black wire also in the driver kick panel.
ummm.. anything else?

That blue/black wire is your trunk trigger, not your door trigger. Your door trigger is a heavy gauge light green/red wire.
You don't use the violet + door trigger wire on a Honda. You use the green - door trigger wire.
Those pins on the fuse panel... the furthest left is constant 12v, the next to the left is acc 12v (use for ign unless you have electric door locks or remote start), the next to the left is parking light output.
I've done several writeups, but most of the pics come out blurry.

I have everything working and I wired up the green wire to the light green wire with the red stripe for the door trigger and when I set my alarm it says that the door(s) are open.....? So I'm not sure which wire I should be using because the light green with the red strip isn't working for me? Thanks......

there are many wire with the same color pattern, you need to test them to find the correct one, If you are having problems grab the wire in the driver door piller. easy. Its the only one with that color.

</TD></TR></TABLE> Ditto the above. there are also more the one place to find the wire, according to Direct Wire it can be found at factory alarm plug, located behind radio green plug, door trigger can also be found at light green plug above fuse box, also a lt.green/red wire, it goes to the door ajar warning light in cluster.

Ok I will try the one out that is sent to the factory alarm plug (green plug) becuase i know exactly where that is.....I'll let you know. Thanks!
Ok, so I just hooked the green wire up to the thick light green wire with the red stripe and everything worked fine. The reason why it wasn't working before is because my car is "under contruction" so the passenger door wasn't closed all the way, so thats why it was saying that all doors weren't closed because they really weren't. When I un-arm my car its saying that the alarm has gone off when I was away from the car, my battery is running low on power so I'm gonna pick up a new battery and see what happens there.....thanks for everyones help I'll let you know if I need anything else.
I forgot to add, was my alarm saposed to come with a harness for power locks? It says something about it in the manual but I don't have it. Maybe when they were installing my alarm on my others car they saw that I didn't have power locks so they threw it out? I know have power locks........
Yes it should have, 3 pin harness, [2 wires, one pin is empty] plugs in between LED and Shock sensor.
BTW your trunk/hatch trigger can also be found on the oem alarm harness, [lt. green].

I am gonna have to go to the place that installed my alarm and ask if they have that harness lying around somewhere, if not I guess I will order a new one from Viper. Should I be hooking up my alarm to the hatch sensor? If so, which wire connects to the hatch sensor? Thanks!
My harness didn't come with the blue wire......I don't know why but its missing some of the wires that it says the harness should come with???
I forgot to add, is this alarm saposed to come with a built in turbo timer? If so how would I wire that up because I am turboing my car in summer. Thanks again!
I went down to the place that installed my alarm and I picked up the power door lock harness. I am currently trying to hook it up and once again I am having some problems. I can't find the Green w/orange striped wire in the drives side kick panels? What does it mean when it says "Blue plug? in drivers kick panel" on the tag sheet? And which wire from the power lock harness do I connect to the green/white wire and which on to the green/orange? The power lock harness has a blue and a green wire comming off it. Thanks!
The blue plug connector might be on the fuse panel or in the recess facing the door. Those wires are going to be in the harness that comes in from the door. Test them with a multimeter or a 9 volt battery.
wrx killer is 100% right if you do not know how to test the wires color codes are not enough to get by.

to test wires use a multi meter. if you do not know how to use it maybe you should have some one else do the install. it is not a hard job time consuming to make it neet and hide everything cleanly.
if the vehicle does not have oem powers locks, which in hatch they were not an option. and if the doors have oem parts from ex or si who knows how they are wired with out looking. the part number is 451t and if you don't have oem locks you need actuators for each door and installing them is a pain. and you still will need the 451t as well sorry for so many post i just remebered stuff after i posted i should have edited

I have installed OEM power windows, locks and mirrors from a 2000 Civic SIR(CDM) SI(USDM) SO everything should be exactly like installing the alarm on an SIR

This is a picture of the wiring for the stock security system with the "green plug" The colors of the wires are as follows:
-Blue w/yellow stripe
-Red w/black stripe
-Black w/blue stripe
-Red
-Black
The directions I have been giving say this:
Power Lock "green/white" - driver kick, blue plug
Notes: Also found in the green factory alarm plug located behind the radio.
Power Unlock "green/orange" - driver kick, blue plug
Notes: Also found in the green factory alarm plug located behind the radio.
This plug usally plugs into the radio of 96-98 civic's correct? Is the plugs colors different from the US and Canada, because I'm reading a service manual and its saying the colors that I've been told to connect too, or do I have the wrong plug? The problem is I don't have a green w/white stripe or green w/orange stripe going to the security systems wiring "green plug" do the wires colors change color? I can test them but I don't really know how with a multi-meter.....any help would be awsome!
