I had my hood re-cleared when my car was painted, and it made the hood look a whole lot better then when it had the manufacturers coating on it. It made the weave look deeper.

oh ya...
u can wax and do everything u want to re-store it.. but nothing will beat re-clearing it.
fresh clean clear owns all.

if it fades or it looks like ****, just get wet sand paper and sand it down and get two or three cans or rattle can clear coat, and spray it again, it will look so nice if you do it right. i did that to my duckbill turned out just like i bought it.

waxing a hood dont do **** except make it look shiny. if the hood is **** and has shitty clear coat it will fade regardless. only way to make the hood not fade is buy a good quality hood like VIS that is grade aa with their color sanding or seibon with their color sanded hoods, and not a fake hood like from absdynamics or jdmcarboy. only way to make a hood look good is to shoot real automotive clear coat over it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I have a cheap *** hood, and it looks way better than the VIS hoods I have seen with the original clear coat vs my body shop cleared CF hood.

Re: faded carbon fiber hood (richieTN)
when i went to that shop i took that 3m marine wax and he used a buffer and it didnt do anything it just left all these damn swirl marks all over my hood. he said well actually all the shop said "looks like its under the gelcoat ur gonna have to buy a new hood" and what pissed me off was that the guy that buffed it said "its really embarrasing to be driving with a hood like this" damn *****

Re: faded carbon fiber hood (YellowOne)
yeah same result with me, its almost impossible to get that **** out!! same results with me, but if i take the buffer with a polish pad and a polish compound it covers it up for the mean time... thats the only solution i have as of now.
