i want to get a short shifter for my 94 integra ls...i went on ebay there are some just for a serveral bucks and some for like a 100 bucks...

whats would go wrong if i buy a cheap one??? it looks the same from the picture...

what would you recommand???

 

I had the B&M and it worked great. I just uninstalled it 25k miles later and there wasn't even a scratch.

 

b&m are good, as is the dc sports. i personaly like the shifters with bearings in the bottom vs without.

 

dont go the cheap way. I spent 30$ and it broke after 6 months of use... pain in the butt shifting without a ****. I wont make the mistake again

 

i recommend the skunk2 shifter, with the skunk2 ****, they say it makes a great combo for shifting....

 

dc or skunk, the cheap ones snap

 

Don't get an aluminum shifter.

The B&M is stainless steel and very strong. You can find other stainless steel shifters for a lot less if you look around a bit. I found a stainless steel knock off B&M for a lot less that are exactly the same as the B&M when put side by side (probably the same company that makes them for B&M made them for this outfit).

just make sure you geat stainless steel and not aluminum!

 

Yeah, I bought a cheap one off of ebay, and it broke after about 2 months of having it. Then I got the gsr double bend shifter. I liked it.

why? billet 6061 is just as strong as stainless steel, but half the weight.

 

B&M's are great and i have heard really good things about skunk 2.

 

Stephen Papadock once said when asked which is the best shifter... he said "stock type r.." but i have had the dc sports and worked just fine.. dont go cheep.. my friend bought a cheep ebay one and, once while (racing) shifting from 2nd to 3rd, it broke and scratched the living crap out of his forearm..

I've been using an aluminum AutoZone shifter since I bought my car nearly 5 years ago. Hasn't given me one bit of trouble. Having the proper bearings and spacers in the bottom really helps it work great.

 

they're all the same. just make sure to get one that comes with sealed bearings.

 

what bad things have you heard about skunk2

 

Used skunk2 single bend in my civic with Skunk2 **** and never had issues. I'd like to use the same in the integra.

Can I use a single bend in the integra?

 

The Skunk2 shifter and Skunk2 **** are a great combo. It was the first thing I did to my GSR. It really makes the shifter feel positive and short. I love it!

I have the skunk2 with their **** and I couldn't be happier but I've also had B&M and it was dope too. depends on how much you want to spend but at least get a good name brand.

 

Just ordered the skunk shifter, **** and prothane shifter bushing set for the new teg.

 

i have a TWM Performance single bend and have no complaints about it, but i do want to get a weight shift **** though.

i have not heard complaints about skunk2, dc or b&m shifters either.

 

if you Know how to weld you can fit a oem shifter at a junk yard and cut it from both side. and mig weld it back real good. works out perfect.... but that me

 

B&M FTW, I've had mine for about 5 months and still felling good.

 

I have a 'Cosmo Racing' one. It is red. I cant tell if it is aluminum or not. I got a type r replica **** with it too. It has lasted my for about a year i think. It is just starting to creek a little. I dont feel it breaking anytime soon...

 

I love my B&M it works great. I recommend it.

 

how much of a difference is the short shifter compare to stock?? for those who have short shifter installed on your civic or integra....haha dont mean to jack your thread

Kind of off-topic, but why don't you toss a magnet on it? If it sticks, then it's probably stainless steel. Otherwise if it doesn't stay, you're probably looking at an aluminum short shifter.
