Default skunk2 high compression valves

Does anyone know how much the skunk2 high compression valves boost compression?

nope....that is one of the only things i have never been able to get out of anyone on here....nobody knows, and if they do, they wont tell

if someone got me how many CCs the dish in the stock valves is (diff for intake and exh) i would be able to figure it out....

Wait wait - .5? That seems like a lot for some valves.....................

So you're saying - 10:1 to 10.5:1?
i don't think so.

Question - the JDM h22 engines ofcourse have 10.6:1 c/r - what is different in this engine? Pistons?

I have heard .3 or .4 for flatvalves on the h22. The skunk2 are just flat right?

skunk 2 makes 2 different kind of valves. dome valves that are just like stock. and then flat ones to help boost compression.

its about .2 they take up about 2cc per combustion chamber

that sounds better

the jdm pistons are domed more than the usdm's... the type-s are even more yet.

Brandon-
the "hi Comp" valveset will boost you overral compression by about .3 or .4 So if you have 10.5:1, then your new Comp ration will be 10.9:1. Similar to adding a thinner headgasket or milling the head.
Thanks,
Joe

This is the reply I received from Skunk2. Im thinking type s pistion with these valves would make a cheap killer setup. 11.0 for type s pistions + .4 for the flat valves would give you an overall cr of 11.4 plus if you mill the head a little bit it would be even higher. Thanks for the replies.

So how much would a thinner headgasket boost you, and where can you get one?

i dont think you can just give a general statement like that, i need to do the math on it, but i do believe that 2cc has more of an effect on a smaller combustion chamber than on a larger one, so with higher comp pistons, i believe you will have more of an effect than with the stock ones....

ill do the math with usdm, jdm, and type s pistons and post it up, its all gonna be based on the 2cc claim, someone correct this if they know better

AHA! done...and i was right

they bump .2 in comp on a usdm h22
.35 on a jdm h22
.4 on type s pistons

So what ball park HP gain could one expect by fitting these valves, and a 2-layer head gasket on an otherwise stock (JDM) H22 motor? (assuming suitable tuning of course!)

When you say 'remove the middle layer of an OEM gasket' - do they come in 3 separate parts that you stack, or do you physically 'peel' it apart? Is there any special technique to this?

one thing to keep in mind w/ flat faced valves is while they do bump comp. a small amount they also cost you a little hp because they dont draw air into the combustion chamber the same way a dish valve would. ferrea will confirm this, they offer both types of valves and have tested both.

Well from what I have read, each tenth of a point the cr is raised you should gain about 1 hp.

I guess that makes sense because the dish in the center of the valve would create a sort of air foil that would cause swirling and probably increase velocity.

shave the head 0.020" and use the lightest valves you can get your hands on.
more weight (flat valves) just promotes valve bounce.
