CAR HAS LOW RPM'S (IDLE)
It just got done by a shop i took it to. Had a hard time getting home.
cars ROM is like low as ****!
me and my friend came up with like 3 things, but we aren't very accurate because we didn't really vision on what was happening.
1 - Alternator has gone bad
2 - The battery i had gotten is just garbage ( hasn't been used in a couple of months)
3 - A vac line or sensor must be unconnected. Or something of some sort must be messing with something.
I'm not sure if any of these are correct but that's what i think one of the problems are. It's like each time we came to a corner, i would switch it out of gear, and then the RPM would just drop under 500 and bog right on the 100 rpm line. If it didn't bog at the RPM line then it would just stall completly.
I got about half way home or just a little more than half way. My friend had to wrap a peice of tissue paper around the accelerator cable at the throttle so the rpm can get to 1k.
anyone have any idea what the problem can be? I can get pics or vid on request if you guys think it will help determine what's up.
i am very upset about this

you guys have any pics to wear it's at? ima run a search on it right now.
---> ran a search, i only found them of MPFI throttle. i have a Stock DX DPFI
found a pic. is this right?

to adjust how would i go about doing this?
Counter goes higher?
Clock go lower?

Also, my friend says it might be more than the idle screw because the car dies out.
Did i mention that after the car stalled i would have to get the battary jumped? Jumped it more than 10 X i believe.

well if its set too low it could happen, but it could also be other stuff. best bet is to raise it then drive it. if it still stalls start looking elsewhere. sorry im not more help

i would fix that first. go to kragen or some where and get the battery tested for free first if thats good check all connections and grounds if nothing still get the alt tested for free try not to spend money. the idle situation could also be the iacv needs cleaning, vacum leak, worn timing belt, could be lots of stuff. i wouldnt go messing with the idle screw just yet cause theres not much of a posibility it got loosened on its own.

All i needed

Thanks to you also
i'll do that just drive it aruond t he block and see wht happens, if the car does stall then i think it is the alternator and that smart stuff you just said. thanks
-if all fails you'll see me posting up on HT again.
lets just hope it works.

is there a cel? thats just my opinion ive had idle issues on a previous civic and its a pain. adjusting the idle screw is like getting your arm cut off and putting a band aid on it sure it will help but its not the proper way of fixing whats wrong. but like i said start with you battery issuses first. do a search too.
yeah, im going to get the battery from my 89 jeep into it after school. Sucks tho, the car is still like 30 mins away from my house.
I pray to god it's not the alternator. I don't wana have to spend more cash
i'm a jobless bum now. My friend says that another one of our friends has this thing where he connect it to the battery or something? and doing that it reads if it's the battery or the alternator taht is broken.
ehh come to think about it the alternator is like what? 15 years old??
i just hope it's not the problem hehehe.

Shop was Top Setup. He took it because he couldnt get the trans back on after a clutch job (clutch disk wasnt aligned right i'm guessin). Shoulda brought it to me, we could done it cheap and engaged in underage drinking, tsk tsk tsk.
Just sounds like your idle wasn't set correctly. Super easy to fix. Don't just start playing with your idle set screw, it won't do any good unless you follow the proper directions.
Here's how to properly set your idle:
1. Warm car up completely and turn it off
2. Unplug the EACV and start the car again (this disables the EACV so you can set your base idle), you will have a CEL at this point of course.
3. Adjust the idle set screw in or out until the car idles at 750RPMs
4. Turn the car off
5. Plug back in the EACV and remove your ECU fuse for a minute or so to reset your ECU. (This gets rid of the EACV code from the ECUs memory)
6. Reinstall the ECU fuse and start her up!
That's all there is to it. This is the correct way to set your idle. If you don't unplug the EACV like I described, it will constatly be trying to correct the idle as you are adjusting the screw and you won't get anywhere with it.
If you follow these instructions your idle should be perfect. If it's still giving you problems, there are other things to try like testing your FITV and EACV. But first set your idle correctly and go from there.
