I'm torn between these two, the Si i've placed a deposit on arrives in 2 weeks, before then i need to make a decision. I test drove the 06 type s today, and its awesome to drive. I haven't gotten the chance to drive the Si yet but i've seen it in and out and i prefer aesthetics of the si a little more than the type-s.
What do u guys suggest? I've seen an si dyno 174 who and 129 tq in another thread on HT, what are people with 06 type-s's dynoing?
Does DBW seems like a big hinderance in performance for the si? either one i get i plan to boost. Both are not yet supported by hondata k-pro. and only the type s has a reflash which doesn't work with forced induction anyway. And yes i know i can swap with an 02-04 ecu and get k-pro. Money between these two cars is not an issue, i'm paying about 1500 more for the rsx.
Discuss please

thats basically around where the 06's dyno at, some higher, some lower.
if you prefer the si's aesthetics over the rsx, the decision should be clear. performance wise i think they are about the same with the si being slower in a straight line
i onno, they are basically the same car with a different body

It's like what do you like better, the green apple or the red apple? They may taste a lil different, but they're both apples.
I personally like the RSX-S, leather seats are hot, however... I've never sat in the new SI's yet, just looked in on them from outside.

You can K-Pro the 05-06 now... Check out clubrsx.com for more info.. I personally went with the type-s over the Si. But its all about what you prefer personally... I like the look of the type-s better myself which why I went that way... I think that they are going to have trouble tuning the DBW system... But the cars are very similar.. I got my RSX for a little over invoice which isnt much more than an Si. Make sure you look at how much your insurance is going to be also, that might be the deciding factor.. Either way, good luck with the purchase man
One more thing.. You should also look at how far you are looking to go with tuning... If you are doing simple bolt on's you may not even need to K-pro the car.. 05-06 type's can run high 13's with basic bolt ons with only the Hondata reflash and no K-Pro. But I would say make sure you choose what YOU want and not listen to what everyone else says... I think you won't be disappointed either way..

yea gm3 i saw your thread... i'm getting the type-s at invoice (22,369) + tax, no tag or dealer fees. Which makes it 23,800 out the door. The Si i'm getting MSRP which is 19,xxx + tax with again no dealer fee or tag fee.
The Si i think is also in more limited production and comes with two engine torque dampners from the factory which help almost eliminate wheel hop. The si weighs about 30lbs more. The Si interior though has a more "type r"-ish feel to it.
The RSX imo has more aftermarket backing currently and a lot more room in the engine bay to work on the motor. Of course its only the first model year of the Si, but if u compare the rsx to the 02-05 si, the aftermarket support has been far greater on the type-s.
damnit idk which to get.

Limited production... Nope... But the Si will not limited prodution... I have already seen a few just in my area.. But as far as the torque dampners go.. Thats nothin... Ingalls has an awsome kit thats only about $120 bucks for the type-s... You can even get the ESMM's that run about $30 bucks that do the same thing... I would honestly say go with which one looks better to you, not to someone else, because performance is going to be about the same... You also have to think that this is only the first year of the Si, there will be a lot more on the street 2 years from now... So its not going to be exclusive... But then again it goes both ways, there are a lot of type-s' out on the street too... But you dont see too many 05-06's.... But I dont regret my purchase one bit!

I would personally go with the type s. But you say you like the look of the si better, and they both have about the same performance and price, so it should be a no brainer for you.

But you have to think about how much its going to cost to replace those rims on the Si
Thats $1500 at least with good tires... I honestly think the type-s looks a lot better which justified the extra price for me... It comes down to what you want tho.. I personally dont go the track everyday so I dont need LSD... And also im getting ready to graduate so I would rather be seen driving an Acura than a Civic 3 years from now... But to each his own right? Its all a matter of opinion tho... If you go to CRSX your going to get a totally different opinion... Good luck and make sure to post some pics of whatever you get

ummm... the RSX is more than the Si.... so how do you say the si is pricey

i have only driven 1 05 type s but I owned a type r for 4 years.
The Si is awesome. It's a lot of the good from my type r but with a nicer interior.....better stereo.....sunroof.......obviously that is not what the type r is about but it's just nice to be more comfortable when driving
si > type s
much more up-to-date platform......si outhandles the type s like whoa

The Type S has a better assembled interior, more classic looks, has a hatchback which is more practical for hauling stuff and has leather. Rides smoother.
The Si has much better suspension, better front diff. Has edgier looks both in and out. Rougher ride. Smaller rear seat area, smaller trunk. Costs $4K less. Has unnatural DWB throttle.
In short, if comfort is more important than performance get the Type S. If you can put up with the lack of comfort and space and the styling doesn't offend than get the Si
Oh, both cars are poor choices for forced induction. If you are going FI than get the 140Hp motor in the RSX base or Civic EX,LX,Dx

I disagree, first of all i'm taking more of a gamble with the Civic si in performance terms because there hasn't been as much support for it, especially not from japanese tuners. All you can buy at the moment is intake and header from AEM/DC, whereas the ITR and the EP3 civics (since they were the CTR's for the rest of the world) had already amassed a huge quantity of aftermarket goodies. The RSX has proven to run consistent low 14's, i wont even go as far as saying high 13's, with simple bolt ons and better tires, making it one of the fastest factory cars honda has ever produced.
As for F/I, i personally know a few people with rsx's on boost and none have had any exceptional problems with their setups. Now i've owned an H22a, theres a motor that u have to be extra careful to boost.

I'd get which everone looks the best to you. I haven't been in an si, but I've sat in the 2 door civic. The speedo is different and could get use to. The bose in the type-s is poop (I have an 05 rsx-s). If I was shopping for a car this year and it was up to those 2 cars. I'd still get the rsx over si because I don't like the look of the si. Plus there will probably be more si's on the street then type-s in a few years from now.

One big difference is that adding a torque dampener that didn't come stock will bump you up to some pretty well-modified classes in SCCA autocross. I've done suspension, sway bars, and bigger brakes... but a torque dampener -- all by itself -- would move my car from STX to Street Prepared.
You can have everything else stock, but that one Ingalls piece would put you in that class. For the drivers who do this kind of thing, it definitely matters what comes on the car from the factory.

For some reasons, I dont like the Si interior. I wasn't impressed that much either when I test drove it. Civic is more bang for the bucks since it has factory LSD and optional NAvi for the price less than the RSX-S.
I would say wait until you can test drive the Si, it wont go no where since you already put a deposit on it.
To me, the RSX has more sports compact car feels which I couldnt get it from the Si. The other thing besides the "hybrid" guages, that irritates me about the Si is the shifter design and position.
So if you want more for your money, get the SI. If you want luxry and sports car feel right out of the box, RSX-S is the way to go.
