OBD 0 to OBD 1 conversion harness****homemade for under $20.00!!!
Here is the first stages of the OBD 0 to OBD 1 conversion harness I am making for my friends EF HB, it is all wired up by the last pic with the exception of a few more wires that will be wired to a subharness very soon. I just need to find and decide what type of harness I will use for it first. I will do more checking around tomorrow for one. I know there are quite a few different ways of wiring it up but once I get it all finished and tested I will post what worked for me.

loks like the clips were bought from Radio Shack. i bought some of those before.
good ****! more deatils please

good work on making your own
Its kinda obvious what harness you looked at to coppy that. The subharness wires match our design to a "t". At least you know its gunna work
Are the open pins for the subharness?

Actually Radio shack did not have any (not around here anyway), I had to go to a computer supply store (slayton computers) to find these connections. They work really well and will be perfect for holding the wires in place when I solder them.

LOL, yea you remember me huh? j/k. This is not the complete stage yet, I am actualy going to use alot less wires for the subharness simply because the wires are already on his swap. I like this way better because my swap has some extra wires now that I have not yet taken the time to remove. It will pretty much be like yours but w/ a few differences to work better for my friends car.
and yes, I do know it will work when I am done

do you just break the clips off there and use them or what the picture isnt that clear </TD></TR></TABLE>
Yea, sorry for the blurry pics but my camera battery was dying so I did not get a chance to take a better one. they break right off after wobbling them to the left and right a couple times, they cost .20 ea. which was kinda suprising. still cheap by comparison though

What do you mean by it looks like yours? It looks like an OBDO to OBDI conversion harness to me.
They all look the same.

nice diy! I just made a obd2-obd1 distributer harness so I can use a obd2 dizzy on my obd1 car/harness

i still dont understand? why would you go through all the trouble of this? why not just wire the obd1 plugs onto the car???? wouldnt it look way better and actually save you time because you dont have to "pin" anything?

why not? the car runs better obd1, is smog legal in most cases, and looks 5000 x's better, theres no reason to go back......the engine harness gets modified but you cant modify the car harness? whats the difference?

agree 100% obd1 is the ****, and i consider my self pretty good at wiring cars. but i would not wanna just something u dont have to, just incase. Its kinda like opening a can of worms. Plus i build my coversion harness in winter and it beats soldering all those wires in the cold and in that crampted space

It's not so bad, running the OBD 1 harness completely through is not exactly easy either. It's my friends car and we did not have the time to just run a new harness through out the engine bay. I felt like making this because we had the parts and it's just plug and play once it's done. ALOT easier to do considering how diff. our schedules are, I work at night and he works in the day. This also gives us the versatility to change back to OBD 0 if for some dumb reason he decides to??? anyway like I said it's just easier to do it this way, and it's also easier to problem solve if something is not right because the wires are all right here and easier to diagnos if needed.

cool, i guess different strokes....you could always make a jumper from 0bd1 back to obd0 lol

lol, or just unplug the harness????? besides you said earlier that it looks 5000x's better when running the actual OBD 1 harness? the only wires that are messed with are under the carpet??? So unless you have X-ray vision it does not reallly matter, the wires are never seen.
