Default Cracked Rear Subframe Help!!! (::PICS::)

Hey, ok here's my problem! I had the beaks kit on my rear USDM ITR sway bar. I had it on for a lil bit and then one day i went down to pressure wash my rear susp and the drivers side sway mount was completely cracked almost to the lower control arm bolt! I dunno if it's the beaks kit or what but i have never driven the car hard or gone to the track. I have pics below of what it looks like if you guys dont get what i am sayin so if you have any idea on how to get it fixed lemme know. i was thinkin about takin it to a body shop n just havin em weld it closed and getting an asr subframe brace to keep it together. lemme know if you think thatsa good idea! thanks a bunch

rav

And here's the original set-up! I still have the exhaust. and it's all alot cleaner down there now!

thats a civic though, might be different for our integras. I have had mine one for along time with the BSQ kit without the metal flat piece, just the spacer on there for a while now and no problems..knock on wood.

Yeah, the civic's i would imagine are a lil weaker but i thought the beaks kit would fix it if you think it's scary lookin at it imagine driving it 80 miles a day! it aint fun.... but.... it hasnt grown n e at all so i check it everyday just to make sure!

I didn't know there was a beaks kit to run the 22mm sway bar but i would invest in a ASR kit and the only way i can think of to fix that crack is to get it welded up. Good luck with that. That is very scary.

I'm sure that may be possible, but I thought that the whole thing needed to be replaced, which I've heard isn't cheap. I never understood how the beaks kit was supposed to prevent this in the first place.

That happned to me on my 2000ex that I had. Mine was a little worse than that. I took it down to a shop near me and the welded the peices that snaped off and everthing was ok after that. I got the asr plate befor I put the itr bar back on and was riding like that for about 9 months with no problems.

yes research. ASR/Comptech are best for EK civics, Beaks kit is the bare minimum. Depending how much force is used, spring rates, etc...Beaks may last years, but honesly why risk it? Don't cheap out people, buy ASR or Comptech and you'll have worry free handling from that large rear sway bar. You get what you pay for and unfortunately, a subframe repair costs alot more then ASR brace does.

search for subframe tearout, there are a few threads in the archived section of this problem and fixes, hope it helps ya.

Heard bad things about Beaks on Civics, some last and some don't.
Get it welded up and run an ASR or Comptech kit pronto!

beaks kit sucks.. basically you get what you paid for..

best thing now for you to do is get a new subframe and weld that **** on.. gonna cost you tho.. you should have gotten ASR or Comptech

even you weld the cracked peices together, it won't be as strong as before so you may face another subframe damage with ASR or Comptech.

SERIOUSLY!
damnit I can't believe how easily people fell into the beaks bandwagon.

for awhile everyone thought it was the **** and would protect you.

I always knew it was bs.
how the expletive is a freakin glorified metal washer supposed to keep that **** from tearing out??

if it isn't a solid piece connecting BOTH ends together.. it's not gonna stop torsional tension at all!!

At the very least a swaybar should be connected to the lca bolt directly.. it'd be tough as **** to tear that thing out..

I agreee. EK/EM mounting points are farther out on the subframe in a really shitty location. Use the ASR/Comptech or don't use a bar at all.

yea... asr or comptech... i saw a recent post about tearout with comptect tho...

beaks has always seemed like a joke to me... it looks it like it would create more torque about the point it is supposed to be helping... (T = R x F) for engineers or physicists...

but yea.. beaks seems to have an adverse effect..

Beaks on 92-95 civis (and 94-01 Integras), works perfectly. It is the EK that has a design "flaw" (the chassis).

Go with Comptech kit.
