Default Any turbo EFs out there that have AC?

I want to keep AC, taking it out is not really an option for me right now.

Knowing this, I planned on just staying NA for a while... but, I seem to be getting the boost bug again, so I'm JUST wondering. Is it possible to turbo an EF and keep AC?

Any pictures etc?

It seems to me that there is no way it's going to happen, I mean, my header barely fits in there and has about 1/2" clearance from the AC lines.

Please tell me I can fit a turbo in here so I can start ordering some parts!!

I'm thinking, greddy turbo manifold + gt28rs (with the T28 flange) might fit, but I don't want to drop that kind of cash without knowing for sure it's going to fit in there.

gt28rs at 1bar sounds sooo good to me.... Mmmmm!

I'm trying to accomplish the same thing. From what I've been seeing I think you can do it with the correct header and use a turbo with an external wastegate. Might have to get custom ac lines... Here in Tx no a/c is a no no on a daily driver. Just prob gonna have to use a small turbo nothing big and switch to a half radiator and drop the ac fan directly on the ac condensor and push air thru.

Would it be easier to do a JRSC setup?

I've never been a fan of them, but I'm thinking it might be much easier than a turbo setup.

Easier to keep your A/C if you do go with the JRSC. Personally I've weighed the pros and cons and decided that if you're gonna go FI, either go turbo or go home. (I'm sticking with a N/A setup).

Yeah, I hear you. I really enjoyed my last turbo setup (60 trim T3 at 12psi), but I'm pretty sure that I couldn't fit that same turbo between the block and the AC fan.

I should be able to keep it on my setup. It's on a spare motor right now, mocked up. I'll let you know if it fits after tax returns.

Maybe re-locate the battery and get a sidewinder style manifold that puts the turbo where the battery is? Or get a custom manfiold that has a flange further to the passenger side and angles the turbo,,and then cut some webbing off the block?? I dont know its gonna be a bitch..Right about now it makes me think about the turbo in the back bullshit..

Hmmm... I know the HF header clears AC, but I wonder if a turbo would fit under there...

The thing is, if I put the compressor on the passenger's side, it will most likely hit the block AND have downpipe clearance issues with the AC compressor (unless I get a small turbo). But, I suppose if I put the compressor on the driver's side and don't use a filter, I might be able to squeeze it in there...

I hate boost, once you have it, you can't go back to NA.

Haha... yeah, I know hotrex.

At this point though, I am just trying to determine if it would even work. I'd like to see pictures of a setup with AC and turbo if anyone has them.

That's what it looks like to me too. I just figured I'd ask and see if anyone has pulled it off yet.

I was thinking though, that a custom sidewinder mani would work well if I relocated the battery to the back and put the turbo where the battery normally goes.

Why not just buy a greddy/hks/apexi manifold that you know will clear a/c?

How much power are you wanting?

That's what I want to know. Will the greddy manifold clear AC in an EF? If so, what size turbo would I be able to use?

The setup I would like to see is a Greddy manifold, GT28RS turbo with the T28 hot side. My goal would be to make 300 whp at 14-18 psi. Forged internals of course.

I can build the engine and have the funds to do this kind of project. I just want to keep my AC, so I'm trying to figure out if it will work before I order up some parts.

I've been doing the same research and it should all clear. You should be just fine.

The only real problem is the downpipe at the a/c compressor. Nothing a little creative plumbing won't fix.

Nice!

Does the Apexi mani have a T25/28 flange or T3?

I guess I could just buy an Apexi turbo kit. Which turbo does it come with again?
