looking to get your radio reception back?
after having the s2k antenna for so long, with terrible reception, i finally got fed up. as some of you may know, i plugged the hole, and i ordered this:
http://www.antennaworld.com/es...-276E
it's actually more compact than it looks in that picture. i installed it at the top of the hatch (inside). the only people that will see it are the passengers riding in the rear. and since it's powered, i wired it into the power antenna line and ground.
wow. the difference is night and day. i feel like i pick up too many radio stations now.
man, i hadn't realized just how awful reception was with the s2k antenna until after firing this thing up for the first time.
i'll take pics of the thing when i get a chance. but anyway, i'm psyched. antenna hole plugged, and i have my reception back.

I suggested that same antenna to a friend a while ago. It works really really well. I'll probably do the same if I ever start listening to the radio again.
yeah, well, let me put it this way. before, i spent more time scanning for stations, than stopping at any. now, i have to keep hitting the button to continue scanning because it finds something every half second..

i'm ordering one of those asap... i plugged my antenna as well and have been missing my talk radio! you're right, the thing looks huge in the picture, but judging from your pic of it installed its not that big at all.

agreed.....one of the main reasons I got rid of my s2k antenna a few years ago! Now my oem antenna is broken/stuck in place. I'll have to look into the one you posted..

mine has been that way for the last 3 years. the motor wasnt working all that well, so i solved taht by unplugging the sumbitch. i was going to do a s2k antenna a couple of years ago when i cared, but never got around to it. this seems like a good alternative.

thanks for the compliments, everyone.
here's where i got the plug:

i didn't take pictures during the install; but since so many people have requested, i will do a write-up later, take pics of the interior, and do my best to describe how everything routes behinds the headliner (it's actually not that complicated).
there's a new development though with this thing, although i'm still picking up stations all over the board (and boy, there are an awful lot in the boston area), a few had a little static in the background. i'm not sure why, as this wasn't happening yesterday, so i'm going to check the wiring and get back to you guys. i did modify the kit to extend the grounding wire, as what it came with was too short for what i wanted to do. maybe that has something to do with it (bad soldering on my part?
)

check antennaworld.com to see if there's anything that may suit that.</TD></TR></TABLE>
what type of connector was on the end of the plug?

the ground wire had a ring terminal.. one of these:

the power wire had nothing, just an exposed end to do with it what you need.
and then, of course, there is the antenna plug.. one of these, except a soldered plug, not screw on:
