Any ideas on a rotor over hub conversion?
First of all, what does "floating rotor" mean? Does it refer to a hub-over-rotor or rotor-over-hub design?
Anyways, for 5th gen accords, does anyone have ideas for converting it to a rotor over hub design?
I've heard someone mentioned that going w/ the 4th gen lude H22 spindles would work..... but i dont have enough experience working with the front suspension to understand any of it.

that is what we have tried
the prelude hub will work with a few modifications. we actually pulled the hub off a 93 VTEC lude and my 94 accord to see what we needed to make it fit

I think they used the entire Prelude knuckle and maybe some other suspension parts. I think they have a lack of funding or something. AFAIK, 94accord will be trying this next.
it can be done, on top of getting Corey ready to race, I just am overwhemled at my work right now and need to pay some bills. i also want to enhance the saftey of my car before dropping money on the brakes. My next purchase is going to be roll bar, harness and a seat.
as of right now this is what we think you will need the following to successfully complete the conversion
1. obviously the prelude knuckle, including new bearing, VTEC rotor and caliper
2. new Accord lower ball joint to replace lower prelude ball joint because its sleeve is to big
3. may need to replace steering arms and axles but do not think so, you can probably swap the steering arms on either side to get the clearance
that is as far as we have gotten with it. this will set the tires out from the edge of the car further, anywhere from 1/4" to 1/2", but we will not know until completed

axles shouldn't make a difference, accord axles work w/ the lude tranny, and vice versa.
It won't be till middle to end of summer until i do it.

Dave pointed out that the Prelude axles have female inner ends, while the Accords have male inner ends... or am I just confused? Where are you Dave?
All I can say is, a driver's side axle I received from http://www.raxles.com is marked '92 Accord and the connection on the transmission side is female. My hybrid uses 4th gen Prelude VTEC axles and I haven't seen an entire Accord axle in a long time, so I dunno what's up.
thats why u should just screw it all, and suffer at least once a year, I had a small lil "thread within a thread" about this!...just use a wedge that looks like a tuning fork, knock out the hub, replace with "BREMBO" blanks, and use V6 accord calipers, done, end of story!!
waste of time and money, nothing but hassles!
i think! :>

the brembo blanks will last awhile depending on ur pads and how hard u drive!
PLUS! this way, its straight bolt on, fast and furious!! :>
cause it stops the same way as a lude! same ol ****!
am i right?

i had discussed this before about 5 months ago i beleive, i want ed to do 5-lug conversion from a first gen oddyssey to have the floating rotor design, i may go back to this idea.......
If you installed your own rotors/calipers, the accord setup has the hub over the rotor, forcing you to take everything apart to replace the rotor. The prelude has the rotor over the hub, so its much easier to take apart and replace the rotor.
true, but u should only have to replace once a year! big whoop ya know?
its not thaaat hard!..besides, ur only taking the hub off!! use a tuning fork and wedge shape tool and hammer it out!!..
i think its better than "trial and error"..finding out which goes with what, what to replace, what to remain! all that stuff!!
