Its been a while since I've made a thread.
I know there are many many topics covering wheel hop; however, I would like to know people's opinions as of today since technical/mechanical knowlegde grows with experience.
Anyway, I noticed today that my car has wheel hop out the ***. I don't normally beat on her since I live in the city - but today I took her for a ride...tried to take off once, and wheel hop out the ***.
I know better tires will do me good; but I don't think they will do that much.
What are you suggestions? I'm going to buy a better suspension once I get my other projects out the way.
Although everyone's comments are welcome - please don't tell me to get a good suspension - I'm looking for more technical comments.
i.e. - When working with adjustable shocks, what "stiffness/softness" will help eliminate wheel hop?

I got ES bushings all around, ES motor mounts, and of course springs & shocks. IMO, the motor mounts helped the most. Soon, I will have a traction bar from PFI on the lude. I will keep you posted on the traction bar.
not only will the better tires help, but get a bigger sidewall, that helps alot. With my 205 45 16 i had moderate wheel hop on occasion, with my winter tires (205 55 15) NO hop at all, just straight spinnin

IMO it helps alot. keeps the power from transfering back and forth between wheels.
for motormounts or inserts

Tires do not effect wheel hop they can only make it apper to not be as bad depending on the grip available. The motor movement is what the problem is. Like someone already said the inserts or the damper or both. Also bad struts will do it. Most of the problem is the motor is moving around too much.

Thanks for the info everyone.
I'm working on an LSD right now - I have so many projects going on with my car right now - i'm just pouring money into it.
LSD will probably be the last thing though - but thanks again.
Hm, I'm going to see if any of my mounts are loose.
I saw my tranny mount bolt loose once - i'm going to check it again. Because I've never experienced wheel hop like this before. Its horrible.

try to launch higher. thatll help with the hop but you will spin more. traction bars will help ALOT! and of course better tires. do you have coilovers or springs with my experience springs dont hop as much. hope that helps
When I go to the strip, I put my rear struts at the firmest setting. If you want a quick, and IMO better, way to go than motor mount inserts, go buy some window caulk, and fill in your motor mounts. I know it sounds stupid, but I took out my inserts and did that. NO wheel hop. I had wheel hop here and there with the motor mount inserts.

yeah just get some black polyurethane. it sounds jank but it works awesome. its harder than inserts cuz it bonds itself to your motor mount but its still somewhat cusiony if thats even a word and i'm sure its not.
a tube of that stuff is like 3 or 4 dollars. polturethane is polyurethane and it also fixes broken mounts too.
