OBX LSD and Customer service sucks
I bought a OBX LSD when they first came out. i was in the same wholesale/manufactor industry as OBX and i thought that the stuff might be good. i started hearing about axles being stuck in the LSD and got a little worried. when it cam time to pull the passanger axle well guess what happened. it was stuck. so i called the guy that i bought it from and he had me call peter at OBX in cali. i told him the problem i was having and he said that have never had that problem. only time that they have is when people were putting the LSD's in calble trannies. and he said that the email that he got from my dealer said that is what i was doing. which i had the LSD in a 99 SI. what i told him was that i talked to some there at OBX a couple of weeks ago and they said that the only problems were in cable trannys. he started getting mad at me and saying that i was putting words in his mouth and that i really had the LSD in a cable tranny.calling me a liar. telling me there is no warrenty on them. so told him he was running the buisness great and hung up on him. i was calm on the phone the whole time never raised my voice and he started freaking out on me. all i wanted was to get the LSD swapped out with a new that i had heard was no more problems anymore. i also told him that alot of people on honda-tech were having the problem he said that everyone on honda-tech has there own opnion and that it wasnt true.
So everyone with a Hydro tranny that had the problem of the axle getting stuck post up lets here the stories. if i get a good response i might e-mail it to the main man over there.

That's what you get for buying that cheap as obx ****!!1 lol!!! you were pretty nice on the phone though. ie: i witness the customer side of the conversation.
axles getting stuck in OBX LSD's is nothing new..... weather its a cable or hydro tranny.........you should have been prepared for that after searching through the archives on honda-tech.
What's the secret??? I tried a big *** punch and a 4lb sledge...didn't work.
I've got a 99Si (hydro) with a stuck *** axle too...Passenger side also.

the single best way to get the axle out is an air hammer. buy a long skinny punch, aim the air hammer at the hole on the end of the axle, give a push on the air hammer and squeeze the trigger. out she goes. thats the only way i have been succesful getting it out, also just be careful not to hit the inner casing of the diff doing this. the best punch to buy is a skinny one that is skinny enough to fit in that little hole at the end of the axle so it does'nt walk around on the axle end and hit anything. good luck.

I have one of the very first units made (2 years old!) and have never had a stuck axle (did have a DSS5 pop out due to faulty snap ring) and its still working great..
v1 OBX LSD's did have the axle problem. It was a bevel issue or something.
I think Peter (??) runs stuff over at PBX. If you have a v1 LSD I think you are more than entitled to a replacement.
Let me be clear tho- i have the obx v2 lsd and have removed both axles no problem

the older version 1s had the axle sticking problem because one side of the lsd wasnt beveled for the axle... obx realized this problem and released antoher version with both sides beveled... no axle sticking for me
No sticking for me either.
Still sounds like OBX has crappy customer service. You should never raise your voice at a customer, right or wrong. I guess if we wanted good customer service though we would have bought the Quaife.

i knew what i was getting into when i got the LSD and i took my chances. after seening the post on honda-tech along time ago. but since then i have seen post that they fixed the problem like many of you are saying now. and all i wanted was a replacement so i dont have the problem any more since they fixed the problem. i wasnt trying to be unreasonable. and i dont think any one desirves for the company sales rep to freak out on them. but i will talk to peter over at PBX and see if he can help me. thanks for all you guys imput.
just found out that the guy that i talked to was peter

I just recently broke my quaife, I called them up and they told me to send it back. I had mine a week later. That customer service was worth the $900 I payed for it.

ill take photos later. but where the axle enters the diff you will see a bevel on the lip, v1 only had this on one side, v2 has it on both sides

eh agree to disagree.
my v2 lsd is great, and i used my $500 in savings to buy half a turbo kit.
