Can anyone tell me there thoughts on the Spoon progressive springs? \

1. how is the ride?

2. how much does it lower?

I tried the search method but it's freezing up for some reason and the page expires.... :shrugs shoulders:

 

From what I can remember it only lowers the car about an inch or so.

Its supposed to mostly help with turning and "cornering".....but thinking about it, I'm sure its just a slightly above average spring that is meant to embrace the stock suspension and not to interfere with how Honda meant for the car to handle.

Long story short, a good spring with a subtle drop!

Do you have any before/after pics of your car with the Spoon springs.

In my experience, it lowered the R ~2 inches or so. Far too low for stock shocks.

 

Yeah, the Spoon springs slam the car in the rear. Much too low for oem shocks.

well..just get some struts then. Koni yellows are not that expensive.

thats after the drop with the springs and shocks (bilstein sp). let me see if i can find a before pic.

the ride is firmer then stock.

No pictures and it wasnt on my car, but it dropped another teg about half as much as when I put Tein S-tech's on mine.

Don't be dumb. The Spoon progressive springs were made for use with OEM shocks and suspension. It's about a 1" drop from the stock ITR ride height.

 

I have the progressive springs as does a friend of mine, the drop really depends on what kind of shocks ur using (only for the rear really). The rear of my car is dropped so that there is basically no wheel gap, the front has a finger width wheel gap.

Ride wise there quite stiff, but feel a lot better than stock. But I am running spoon shocks as well so that may be a reason.

 

A friend of mine bought SPOON race springs that have higher spring rates and those pretty much made all 4 tyres sitting level with the fenders. Bilstein shocks were used with them. And they were the same price as the 'basic' lowering springs?

He liked the setup a lot and his car has seen more track duties than street driven.

 

whats gonna happen if i use the spoon springs on a stock strut??

I tried the Spoon progressive springs briefly before switching to coilovers, and I can tell you that it does not lower the car only 1".

I had the same experience. Here is the height of the ITR when it was stock, to show that it lowers it far more than 1":

Spoon only sells one type of progressive lowering spring. There is no such thing as Spoon "race springs".

Spoon also sells linear springs, but those can only be used with coilovers and not OEM style spring mounts.

 

Spoon will tell you that the old progressive street springs were designed to be used with the OEM shocks. However, a number of members who have tried that have left the experience dissatisfied.

The only thing I can think of is that our cars are all very old now, with so many miles that we are going to tend finish wearing out the OEM dampers very quickly.

If you're going to use Koni Yellow with these, please make sure you are buying from someone who knows the DC2 ITR very well, and who can get you the very latest shock design from Koni. The originally released Koni will lower the rear of the car way, way too much when used with the Spoon progressive springs.

I can recommend Bilsteins as an economical alternative damper. They're not expensive and they are a little more resilient than the out of the box Koni Yellow. If you decide to upgrade your springs again, you could go over 500# with the Bilsteins, and you really could not do that for long on the Konis.

 

Years ago. Spoon progressive springs with Konis. At the time, these were the only Koni Yellow sold for the DC2 ITR. They know better, now.

 

Dropped on Spoon springs and spoon dampers. The drop looks the same with the OEM dampers since the spoon dampers are only re-valved ITR OEM dampers painted YELLOW!

lol, try a set or do some research before you say something like this. I don't care what Spoon says...oem shocks and Spoon springs are a bad idea.
