Default Spun rod bearing, replaced everything, same problem again

B16A2, stock internals

I've spuned a rod bearing from rod #3 because low oil.
Replaced all rod bearings, rod and piston #3, and all piston rings just to get some fun removing the head, the crankshaft seems to be fine, no marks on the rod journals.

The car felt good for around 1200 kms, never passed 4.5k rpm, no smoke, no strange noises, no oil consumption.

After 1200 kms I stared to rev higher to 6.5k, after 1400 kms gone 8k rpm about 3 times and a "clic, clic" sound comes from the engine.

Removed rod #3 and the rod bearings were almost completely f**ked, but not spun (i feel lucky), oil level was fine.

So... what do you think is the problem?? bad crankshaft?? bad oil pump??
And: which are my options?

damaged crank, did you check it for out of round?? If you spun a rod bearing twice in the same place and the only part left from the last time is the crank, it would seem that you should replace the crank. That or have it machined and use thicker HONDA bearings to get the correct oil clearances.

OEM bearings are your best replacement. The other bearings have been known to be junk. Break the bearings in for a longer period of time. Babysteps....

I was always under the impression that once you spun a bearing the crank was junk. I am not 100% sure on that but especially in your case if its the same bearing being spun, there might be some inperfections on the crank causing it to keep happening. I dont know for sure though.

When you spun a bearing more then likely the crank is gone. Depending on the damage of course but usually there junk. You should have realy taken it to a machine shop to be looked at and see if they could micro shave and polish it.

If you lost it the first time due to low oil pressure did you do anything to resolve the original problem? New oil pump, baffled pan etc...

The first time was on road racing with 3.5 quarts of oil tops, i think that was the problem.

Does "Check Engine Light" warns because low oil pressure? never lighted up.

Do you think the oil pump is gone?

I certainly wouldn't risk another busted engine on it. You might consider replacing it just to be sure and minimally running an oil pressure gauge with a BRIGHT low pressure warning light, this is a common setup for road racing where high-gloading can cause oil to move away from the pickup and the sump to suck air.
