ive seen on a few cars..mostley in jdm mags..the part closest to the windsheild is raised up.... how can i do this? i thought washers but whats the right way?

washers is how most people do it. watch out for rain though!

 

I have 5 washers on the very back hole to my hood hinge, I had to use longer bolts.

1. go to ace hardware
2. go to the rqandom hardware drawers
3. find the chrome spacers
4.pick desired amount of lift
5. go to auto parts store and pick a matching length set of bolts

now go and assemble everything

 

anyone got some pictures of this? ive never really seen it done . .

 

i have mine done with a 3/4 inch spacer. All hardware needed was picked up at home depot

 

question. if you lift the hood there, isnt the seal covering the fuse box / battery goign to be exposed? so rain = rapage?

 

If one were to attach an air filter directly to the TB, would this work as a cowl induction of sorts? I guess I'm just curious as to if there is an actual purpose for this.

 

doesnt this effect will cause dead air in the engine? which mean it will get hotter then normal?

Few purposes, some you will believe some you won't

1: creats negative pressure where the gap is thus helping suck more air through the intercooler and all that stuff, suppose to make your engine run cooler.....

2. some people do it (like my neighbour) because their turbo or something is too big and to be able to close the hood they have to prop it up

3. as with almost all things done on honda-tech, it's done for looks, to look like you have a powerful engine, to look like you know all about cars, and to impress women and 16yr olds.

It did it with mine because my hood didn't set good next to my driver side fender, proping it up made offset it better and took away from the poor fitment.

 

take one of your stock bolts to the hardware store get one thats longer by how much you wana rasie the hood, 1/2" get a 1/2" longer bolt, and get you 1/2" worth of washers , done

 

seen it around here a lot lately, and i think it looks like poo.

the only cars ive seen this work, and look "ok" is back in the 80's the VW tuner crowd did it to the top of their decklid, forcing air into the engine bay.

THAT looked "ok" and had real function. if the function of this one is debatable, then i'd rather just leave mine the way it is, and keep all the rain/dirt out.

Looks really gay and doesn't do jack ****. I don't care what you have going on under the hood as far as induction equipment: the way our hoods are connected to the car - read: after the wiper cowl - makes this ineffective.

And Jesus it looks ugly.

If you want to have an effective lifted hood, go buy a old muscle car.

 

nobody in pensacola does it, so i will MAUHAHAha

well my hood/fender fitment isnt great, either so im gonna do it, plus, no one around here, that i have seen has done it.

 

not worth the money at all
