disassembling '90 Si seats
I'm trying to take apart my 1990 Si seats to fix the broken headrests. I ripped apart an 88 seat before to see how the head rests were mounted, and I know that my Si seats need to have that little bracket in there welded. However, I'm having trouble getting the cloth off the top part of the seat.
The plastic tab that the headreset slides into seems to be in the way. How do I remove this, and how do I get the seat apart without mangling it? I've already taken off the metal clips at the bottom, and can access the foam through there.
Here's a pic:

it should. that part is the same as my accord seats so it should just pull over and out. i was stumped at first but after fighting with it. i was able to get it out. carefully
The fabric only has enough room for the two shafts to go through; it won't slip around the whole plastic unit without cutting it. There seems to be some sort of stud holding the plastic to the metal, but it has no nut on it...
Turns out there's a screw holding the plastic bit on, underneath the release. The bad news is that I think I damaged the release a bit
I'll post my progress later.

Thanks for the pic!
Turns out you have to take off the tab that controls the movement of the headrest, and there's a screw underneath. This must be undone or the fabric will not come off.
I ended up fixing my seat. The headrest bracket was simply bent, not destroyed or anything. I have the passenger side done! Next up is the driver side

Thats a CRX Si/DX seat. The original poster has a Civic Si seat, which is completely different.

Yup. Here's a pic for the search archives:

You can see how the bottom part of the headrest bracket was bent backwards, so that the plastic clip and the headrest shafts could not go through the metal support. I simply pounded the bottom of the bracket forward, and the top part of it down. This is the passenger seat. The driver's side was even worse, but I managed to fix it in about an hour and a half thanks (while watching TV) thanks to practice
