Nice! You are swapping SOHC for DOHC? Or just a replacement head? Good luck and keep us posted. I would be interested in hearing about your experience tuning those cams, especially the idle.

looks like it'll produce some great airflow for that head. i hope to do something similiar to my h23, either that or build an h23vtec, haven't quite decided yet. looks good man

Sweet! Someone I can relate to. That looks pretty nice. I'm with flyrod, the tuning will be an experience. What ECU are you going to run? What are your goals? Good luck with those. Kudos for trying something different. How much did you pay for the valves? where did you get them?

Im replacing my dohc with the new and improved one I paid 290 for the valves! yea... 333 with shipping. crazy. Got them from at importperformanceparts.net. Still going to use the stock ecu. i only have an safc. Dont really have too high of goals. Just want to see how this works out and see what the results will be. Can anybody tell me what to expect from the idle? I'll keep you guys posted!

First off pull out a LOT of fuel at idle or it will probably not run below 2000 rpm on initial startup. I really really recommend something other than the SAFC for tuning. Once you get the air/fuel right then it will be about like this:

http://www.we-todd-did-racing....DE%3D
(right click, save as, quicktime format)
but you can spend a lot of time with timing and idle screws and whatnot and get it down to a really lumpy 800rpm. The clip above is with a crappy exhaust and idling at about 1000 rpm from about 9 months ago. My power peaked at 6500 rpm dyno on basemap link in sig. But I am not a regular H23 build.

Not right now. I might be able to come up with something tomorrow though. I have a tuned P28 with custom fuel and ignition maps.

where did you get the p28 from? phearable? Oh.... in the crower manual it says that the lube is for a quick break in. How do you break the cams in?

I got the ECU from a junkyard and had Flyrod convert it to a P28 and I tuned the maps.

I used Crower's assembly lube and followed the procedure outlined in the little booklet that came with the cams.

Oh, here's a sound clip I found:

Mine looked like it had been worked on too. It was not very good work though. Glad to hear that you're making some progress.

yea... mine had work for sure. but my timing belt and balance shaft belt were real loose. Could explain why i it didnt pull at all after 4500 cuz of the timing belt. When i get my head back tomorrow i'll post some pics and pics of my engine torn down. I know you guys have seen that kind of stuff... but eyecandy is good!

hey pirate, were your RM springs longer than stock? Cuz the machine shop just called me saying that the springs are too long and they are afraid its going to spring bind.

IIRC they were shorter. But there were big differences in the retainer and what not. Tell them that they work fine for me and have for abot 10K miles at .451" lift.

I am sure that RM could tell you specific specs that the shop should look for.

yea my springs dont look like that! omg. I think the guy sent me the wrong springs, cuz the ones i have are a lot more slim. The guy at the machine shop is having trouble finding a seat cuz they are not the same size. I might have to put my old head on now. i bought the rm spring set from dfoxengr and he says that he sent me the H23 springs.

edit: Forgot to say that my springs dont sit on the spring seat properly cuz they are smaller in diameter.
