Default Dont buy a cheap short shifter!!

I know its been said before about DC short shifters, but dont buy a shitty short shifter in general. My car came with an STR short shifter on it. Well, when it was being backed into the garage, the shifter just decided to break in two, taking my mugen **** with it, with the end of the shifter still in the threads so i need a new shifter, im going with stock

If you really want another short shifter, get a C'z.

Casey you should invest in some Energy Suspension shifter bushings. They are cheap and work well.

I saw some site on the net showing people how to make thier own short shifters.
You saw the stick and chop some off and wield it together again - crazy *** idea.

Dude at least you were reversing (slow speed) it could have been worst (forawrds at high speed)

Hey, just curious...

If it's one solid piece, and made of solid material w/a decent process, it shouldn't be an issue, right?

I mean, how does a solid piece just snap off without reason??

Just curious because spending $200 on a f*ing metal rod doesn't sound like my idea of a good time.

BTW not looking to start a war or provoke anyone, I'm in the market for a short shifter and would like to hear solid backup for going with a more expensive model over a similarly constructed, more reasonable piece. If you could support your argument with fact and not opinion it would be most helpful.

THANKS!

It's all about quality control and quality of materials as far as the the breaking issue goes. there is a reason why cheap products are cheaper, you know.

personally, i think the itr shifter is excellent already... although the C'z really is a step above it, when you have an ITR, the incentive is not as strong... if you have a GSR or SI, I think the incentive for getting a C'z is better

just my two cents

they are? i wasn't aware of that...

okee, cut that list down from GSR and SI to just SI then...

if i remember correctly, the C'z short shifter has been around for many years... I think it's original intended market was really for Civic SIRs in Japan...

I believe the GSR and ITR shifters are identical except the ITR is silver/polished instead of black.

The manual/box for my C's says it's for both the DC2 and EK4.

I've heard the JDM R shifter is like 25% shorter than the GSR / ITR... any truth to this?

not absolutely sure, but I think it should. all civic/integra shifters are pretty much the same. slight differences in bends and shapes.

just curious, why would you want to do that?

Also not true...

97-98 ITR's have a black shifter...00-01 ITR's have a polished shifter...although they are both the same EXACT part #...strange but true, verified w/ Mike K

Oh, I posted this in the type-r forum...It seems to be the most popular here so I thought it'd be a good source of varied response.

I actually have a j-b16 w/cable trans. in a hatch, so I guess that's gonna make a difference.

Anyone know if a solid one-piece shifter would be OK to use for my civic application? It's just that I could think of alot of other things to spend a few hundred bucks on right now...

Again, I know it's the "R" forum, but it seems to have the heaviest traffic flow so I thought it would up my odds of getting a good response.

Thanks!

Energy Suspension and Neuspeed shifter bushings should do the same trick. I have not used the Neuspeed ones but i hear they are nice. I believe that the ES ones are cheaper though.
