Default New look for steelies (56K beware)

Don't know if this topic is ok in this forum....if not, please move.

This winter, I decided to get an acutal set of snow tires, so I had to find some steelies to put them on. I found an old set of 14's for $10. They looked horrible, but they weren't bent, so I got them. I sanded the rust spots, sand blasted them, had them powder coated gloss black, put on some pinstripes (yes, I know it isn't perfect, but when it is on the car, it isn't that big of a deal), modified some centercaps from my mesh wheels, and here are the results. What do you guys think? I am guessing it is going to be a love it or hate it kind of thing, but I like it - it is not to flashy, but a bit different than a "typical" black steelie. The only problem that I had is that the caps won't stay on because the steelies mount tighter and force the cap to keep popping off. Ohh well..........

All that white stuff is salt, snow and ice. They put salt down on the roads to help melt the ice and snow. And snow tires are tires that just perform better cold, and help real well when there is snow on the ground, and winter tires are usually a lot heavier than regular tires so they can help gve additonal grip.

BTW, the steelies aren't to bad, i was expecting something hideous.

Sorry, man.......we got 5 inches last night, and I was busy shoveling and putting on snow tires - didn't have any time to detail. Not to mention the fact that it has been crazy cold around here lately.

I feel so bad for that poor car. Man, move that sweet ride to the climate it deserves. Rust out a Chevy truck or something in the snow & ice & salt.

Interesting look for the wheels. for a DIY project.

I can't say i really like the blue stripe, but just the red would look good, but then again your car has no red in it, so my opinion would be keep them all black. I also am going to get all 4 winter wheels this year since the teg is not something I want to get in a fender bender with wheras by previous cars were things I cared much less about denting. I just painted my steelies black and stuck on some "H" center emblems I think are off of a 88-91 civic. I'm picking up the other two steelies and snow tires soon so it doesn't look all mismatched and so the back end doesn't slide around anymore. Today my teg made it through 7 inches of snow on unplowed roads, I was amazed. The snow was just below my headlights but it just flew up over the car and I didn't get stuck at all, this car is absolutely amazing in the snow, don't let anyone tell you different. I want a beater, not b/c this car is bad in the snow, but b/c salt rusts cars so bad, rust is the devil.

You guys are being big fat pussies. Cars go through the winter months year after year and are fine. As long as you give it a scrub every few weeks it'll be fine

Good onya for trying to make the steelies look a bit better than just black steelies.
Here's my effort, I painted the entire lip red. Yea, the pic sucks.

Those red lip ones look good...They'd look alot better on a black or red car though.
