Default How to: OEM S2000 Cd Player into EF's Tons of Pics!!!

Hey, this is my first write up so bare with me. I am in no way responsible for any problems or hapiness caused by this write up. Here goes nothing.

What you need:

-S2000 Cd Player
-Metra 71-1721 Harness
-Metra 71-1720
-Crimpers
-Wire Strippers
-Red Crimp Connectors
-Packing Foam

Directions:
1. Take off center console. Take out all side screws and shift **** and take the whole thing off.
2. Take out the screws around the radio. Unplug the harness and antenna from the radio and take inside. You should have something that looks like this depending on what your application is.

3. Take the radio out from the surrounding and just leave the black surrounding that screws back into your car.
4. Start connecting color to color on the pigtail ends of your metra harness and crimp them (or solder) with your crimper and crimp connections.
*IMPORTANT TIP* Connect the orange stripe to the orange solid (illumination to dimmer NOT dimmer to dimmer) in order to get the correct illumination. All the others will go just color to color. There will be a couple extra wires for power antenna and others you might not have for your application.

5. Plug the metra harness 71-1721 into the s2000 cd player.
6. Slide the s2000 stereo into your stock surrounding.
7. This is where you have to get creative on how to secure the cd player into your console. I used a piece of packing foam and put it inbetween the storage slot and the cd player and that holds it great.
8. Plug metra 17-1720 into your car harness and plug antenna into the cd player.
9. Screw the stock mounting plate back into your center console bracketry in your car.
9. Put your center console back on.
10. Take a long road trip and enjoy the hell out of it.

End Result:

If you see any errors or have any suggestions please let me know! Thanks!

Exactly I bought the stereo for $88 shipped from a guy on this forum and the harness with tax are $15 each. I'm sure the cd player itself can be had for cheaper but I was in a hurry.

It actually sounds a hell of a lot better than that pioneer and the pioneer was super well tuned.

The headunit looks just like the one I had in my 00' EX....except for the color. What kind of power does it put out? I swapped my factory headunit out for my 60x4 Alpine

heres an idea...

does anyone think it would be hard to rig up the remote volume and audio controls standard in a s2000 steering wheel and stereo, and use a prelude steering wheel that has cruise control buttons, to make that work with the s2000 stereo in a crx?

or just use the cruise controls on the EX sedan wheel?

I don't see many S2K's at work, but I see alot of CRV's and that stereo looks very close in appearance from what I can remember.

I wonder if they use the same one. Its possible...

i think the silver s2000 cd player wood look better, considering it isn't the same as the one in the honda minivan

and also, why all the harnesses? did your deck not come with the stock harness? if it did, why didn't you just hardwire the thing?

The way you can tell the difference is in the part number. The s2000 ones have s2a in them. I didn't hardwire it because I have radio add and switch them out super often. This one I'm planning on sticking with for a while.
