you can used a high heat paint, what ever color you want flat black or glossy, i think anything higher than 500 should be good, you can find it in autozone or petboys from $6 to $10 a can ..

I think they sell special radiator paint that sticks to aluminum and still allows it to dissipate heat best, that would be your best bet but I've used black paint and it worked fine. I just wouldn't want half of it to flake off in a month though.

dont paint it black

paint it a dark gunmetal color, like a flat darker grey, they are by far harder to see and be sure that is doesnt glare

For my intercooler i pained it with flat black HI temp paint. Its a dull black. You cant even see it in my car. ill throw up some pics later. Just make sure that you dont clog any of the fins by spraying to thick. Its 10x better to do 50 light coats then 5 thick heavy coats, if you catch my drift.

haha..or spell

but ive read around that painting will affect the intercoolers effectiveness...

i think that on a racecar it would matter, but on a street car its not going to be that big of a deal..

hehe. I think that is an excellent idea. Paint the intercooler so that way you dont draw the attention so much. You just inspired me to do that. Now, I just have to get the damn turbo to actually do this lol. I think the dark gunmetal color would be sweet! Post up pics when you are done.

Let's be more realistic here. Say you're driving... I come up from the side of you.

You won't know jack **** about my setup. You'd look to your side and see... "Umm, ok he's got rims and it's slammed." Then you'd fall back behind a little and see my stock exhaust. Bring your window down and nothing... silent.

So you try to bite at me and in less than 5 seconds the note of silence changes to a mean diesel truck. Then the next thing you'll see is my rear license plate accompanied by the sound of "PfFfffFFfffFfffSssSsSsHt".

If the paint is applied evenly with multiple thin coats (also sprayed at an angle as a precaution to avoid getting blobs of paint inside the fins/plate)...Then NO, it will not be a noticeable effect.
