K&N E-2427 Installation Pics
I see this topic coming up ever so often, so I decided to share with you how it all went when I got mine. Right on time before my first track day this upcoming Wednesday.
1. First, here is the K & N unit:
2. I then removed the airbox cover, OEM filter, and oiled up the edge of the elbow on the K&N as instructed:
3. A bit of a hassle, as the filter kept slipping in and out, but after about 5 minutes, it was in:

4. Another view, looks pretty good:

Driving impressions: Nothing noticable, although I do have a dyno day on March 24th, we'll see if there are any differences (I'd expect 1-2hp)
So, there you have it. For anyone wondering if they should get it or not, do it. It's a perfect fit, and more than likely, you won't need another filter as long as you own the car.

Is there any difference in sound from stock? Where did you get your filter and how much was it?

There's a bit of a noise difference, nothing too significant. I ordered from Martel Brothers, http://www.martelbros.com, for $65.
if possible could you snap a shot of the rear side of the filter in the car? on the stock filter there's a round rubber thing that seals up the back of the airbox

Sorry to get in on the conversation so late, but:
1. This filter fits a Type R with no modifications to the airbox?
2. You can run it with the airbox closed up like stock?
Thanks,

there are pictures in the link in my sig of the rear of the box.
there is no rubber "seal" however, there is no opening that i can see that would allow hot air to get into the box.
not that such a tiny opening will really make that much of a difference

The K&N will flow better than a stock paper filter and the K&N is probably the last air filter you're going to need to buy for your car since it's washable.
