Default Custom backseat enclosure

Does anybody here have a coustom backseat enclosure or something to make the bare sheet metal not look so booring

I was thinking once i get my nice amp i would have it fiberglassed into the backseat bottom and then something around the hole between the trunk and the cabin. Anyone here have any pics of this in a 4g lude?

heres an idea, put the rear seats back in...

you own an SE, they come with nice seats, plus you wont have to hear all that noise coming out of the back...

ps. subs and amplifiers weigh more than rear seats

Well the thing is my rear seats were rotted and moldy. And I plan on putting in a harness bar soon so the back seat is worthless. Have you sat in the back seat of a 4th gen latley, its not fun. My seats are long gone. I was hoping to recive some creative ideas on enclosures, not you telling me to put the seats back in, cause I have now decided that its a 2 seater for ever now.

Suggestion: Why don't you get some plywood, cut it to shape, put some padding down and wrap it with some leather/pleather? Mounting it can't be too hard. Won't weight as much as seats, and will still look nice

Well at least your not being an ******* about this, all i wanted was some serious input. But I guess you think its a good time to be a dick. The back seat is useless and i figured it could use a covering. Go bite a curb.

if you are going to use the expletive'ing word expletive instead of typing expletives you should use the word expletive instead of typing the actual expletive....

my serious input is that a cUsT0m FiberGlass enclosure for your subz, amp, and neons would be superbly gay and a waste of yet another good prelude...

Well my idea was to just fiberglass the amp to the seatbottom part, color matched to the car(no orange or yellow in this car). Then i would mearly clean up the sheat metal and maybe glass that in too. No neons, and i am keeping my sub box. My main concern is covering the bare sheet metal and hide my wires.

*edit* dont worry about rice, I am not into rice interiors. I just thought this would look mre clean.

You can go custom and still make it look clean. The easiest way, of course, would be to throw some carpet down but it probably wouldn't look all that great.

If I were doing it, I would board up the areas where the back seat was. Maybe add some contours to make the geometry "fit" with the rest of the car. If you're keeping the sound system (I'm partial to bass myself) then you could fab your subs/amp into the area as well, freeing up valuable trunk space at the same time. Whenever you get everything in it's place, I would then carpet the whole interior - pain in the ***, yes, but you'd be assured that it's all the same color and not faded/stained.

Basically, it's up to you and your personal taste - which is why you're getting a "less than helpful" response by others.

My suggestion is to use a combination of 3/4" mdf and fiberglass. If you dont know how to use this, take it to a car stereo shop to build an encloser. I have done about four lude's, sorry i dont have any pics, and all were different. I have worked in car stereo and tint since i was 16 and every custom encloser is different.
So really it is up to your imagination.

i'd sketch out what you want as far as amps and subs, make a few designs to make sure you got something cool, and then build a box for it all, fasten it down, and start lying dow a big piece of fleece over it to fiberglass. build out of mdf and curves you want the fiberglass to follow and have at it.

ok...I'm going to be serious now...

When I pulled the interior out of my Evo, I had to figure out a way to deal w/ the rear seats and make it kinda decent.

Here's what I found works best...

cut a piece of plywood to cover the back. It doesn't have to lay flush, just fit. Buy a can of sealing foam...I think I used "Great Stuff" brand. Take a sheet of plastic or part of a tarpaulin and cut it to fit everything you want to cover.

Spray the sealing foam in all the areas that aren't covered by the plywood. Quickly put the plastic/tarp over the foam covered areas and mold the foam (it'll still be pliable) to the shape you want. When it hardens, pull off the plastic and use a blade or rough-grit sandpaper to smooth it out more.

To make things easier, you can do it in sections--say do the upper-right corner first, then the lower-right corner second, et cetera.

When you're done, you'll have a 'custom' enclosure that's sound and temp insulated. And the insulating foam is pretty lightweight, too. Then you can cover it all w/ color-matched carpet and call it a day.

I would just put the seats back in

Even though they are useless, looks better than not having them in.

H22a T13:

Good luck on your project. From what I gather you're tech-nically telling us that you want to make the appearance and cosmetic aspect of the rear seat area better for the m4d 10U4 Sub3 y0! (don't forget the ammmpppzzzzzzz.) And rest assured that defeating any remotley practical aspect of a vehicle in the quest for increased auditory pressence is not considered "rice" or juvenile at all. Perhaps the small minded among us are not able to be creative in coming up with a viable solution for you as we are embroiled in battles with demons like wiring, suspension geometry, engine repair and such technical issues.
And when that harness bar causes spine compression, or better yet pops out and hits you or a passenger in the back of the head you can use your stupid takata harnesses to hold you in a wheelchair.

P.S. Mgags7 Normally I find your posts a bit brash, but that was the funniest thing I've ever seen on H-T. Thanks!

i would do something like this with the amps on the wall and put the subs on the bottom. build a fiberglass box up to about where the armrest is. that would give you plenty of air space for the subs. jm2c

Expounding on the last guy that actually gave you information....

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by The_Sober &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Spray the sealing foam in all the areas that aren't covered by the plywood. I've also seen people have decent results by filling in with too much foam, that way they could sculpt it into shape. A bit messy and tedious, but if you take your time it can really look good.
