Default What What What?! What is this sensor in PCV Hole? [pic]

Ok SO Im getting ready to install my catchcan the RIGHT way. After I sealed the OEM pcv hold with a freezer cap I went to check the 2 14mm caps i need to open for the can..

The right hex key plug is there but the one to the left appears to have a sensor in it? Even more surious is that this sensor wasnt connected to anything.

Can someone verify that this is the pcv hole that usually has a 14mm hex key cap? What the hell is that sensor it in there? Can I just remove it and replce it with the honda pcv fittings....?

UPDATE:

Black = 1pin
Green = 2pin

my b18a1 had that same green sensor and I always thought it was a coolant temp sensor for the thermostat and fan to turn on because it doesnt have a sensor over where it normally is by radiator hose...so I just hard wired my fan on

on the 0bd2 b20z I have now i think it has the same green plug sensor and now that I think of it i remember reading somewhere that its the knock sensor, but I dont need it because im running a LS ecu.....I dont know but im confused now

I think it's the knock sensor. Even if it's not, it has nothing to do with your PCV system.

the black plug is a fan switch? and the other is knock?

I thought the fan switch (ECT) was in the tstat housing...? cause my fans work fine without either the black or green plugs connected...

thanks!

all honda ecus use coolant temp for fan operation, but the temp sender for the temp gauge isnt used for any of that.. its used simply to operate the temp gauge. on obd0 cars, the fan temp switch is located on the back of the block and is a two wire "female banana plug" terminal, while on obd1+ cars, the fan switch is located on the thermostat housing and is a brown two prong plug much like the IAT and EACV plugs

ok yeah, this must be the fan switch then:

So can i remove that entire obd0 switch? I mean coolant doesnt flow through that port right, its just a hole to the crankcase?

Coolant does run through that port, just use the spot that is meant for the PCV system. You know, the hole under the part bag in the pic you posted. Just below the plug you have the allen wrench in. BTW that plug also goes to the water jacket..

I dont understand, in dashers thread he said both those ports go to the Crackcase, your saying they go to the water jacket?!

im referencing this thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

did they make some drastic design change between obd0 and obd1?!

The Mystery is SOLVED! I had to break the platic to get it off but it appears to be some type of oil temp sensor!!

So 91civicDXdude was the only one who was close good work
