Manual ecu in a auto car
Okay, so I've got a manual ecu in my car right now, and I've depinned the yellow/green wires that lock up the auto shifter that keep me from shifting out of gear, so now I can shift out of gear, only thing is I get some weird rpm values when I do, meaning it bobs around, but then it stabilizes, haven't driven it though. Is it safe? Will anyone sell cheap or donate to me a auto pm5 so I can do testing with chipping it? I just don't want to fry my only one, yakno?
Just a guess, but if the RPM signal you are currently using comes off the ECU into the gague, you could possibly remedy this by instead tapping the signal that is under the hood. Its usually a blue wire...just a guess.
I cant say if its safe or not, but your idea is really interesting.

I ran it, just grounded the green wire, rpm jumps went away after it warmed it, I figure it was just being testy getting used to the new ecu. I'm not gonna run it, just in case I screw up the auto while trying to chip it.
