FAL Lexan Race Kit - EG (Hatch mounting question)
I'm about to order this kit but just want to make sure that I'm understanding something. The rear "glass" will have cutouts to use the factory hinges so that I can still mount a spoiler correct? I'll just be rivetting/screwing the rest of the lexan to the hatch frame right?
I did a few searches but couldn't find any good pics or descriptions.
Thanks,

with the "RACE" kit, all the glass is flat, its not formed like the picture above......
sooo......
you are going to have to build a "frame" for the window to sit on, or else it wont be flush with the body....... the top of my glass doesnt bolt up like factory. but i still am using a stock "wing"

sorry i dont have any pics of it, with the window in. i will try to get some at a later date.

Yeah, just one more thing I have to do. I lack ALL kinds of welding skills since I only have a 110 MIG welder (gasless) and weld like a blind man with parkinson's disease.
I'll have to fab some tabs and mount them all. Make them look "pretty-ish".
That and I still have to weld in that support rod for the windshield.

That would be great and I REALLY appreciate it! I'm guessing the tabs can be mig welded even with my crappy unit right?

Cool, I went to the chassisshop site and found the tabs. I'm guessing you went with 3/8". Did you screw yours in? I think I'll use 1/4" and just rivet it down.
What do you think of the springs that were posted above? Valid for the pro classes? (I can't find anything saying other wise.)

not sure what you mean with the 1/4inch or the 3/8. about the springs. i guess you could use them, but i dont know what for? maybe the hold the hatch glass down.. ive seen them on stock cars, where the gas shock usually bolts through the glass, the spring was attached there, and the other part was on the body of the car, not the tail gate. id use them on a road race car/sfwd/comp car. that needs the factory glass, but not a car that isnt using the factory glass.
take this link and put it in your "address bar" ....(right click, copy, paste) then expand the image....

The size of the hole in the tab, but after looking at the quick connects, I see that they're .5".
Thanks again for your help.

My FAL race kit looks NOTHING like yours. I don't have black around the windows and every panel seems to be off in size. the sides are "ok" but the back panel is REALLY bad.
The front windows are full windows and come to a point instead of being squared off. I don't know, maybe I'm expecting too much. Don't know.

They don't come with the black stripes, you have to paint them on. And all the windows are shipped "oversized" and need to be trimmed. However some of the side windows (the rears if I recall correctly) need not be trimmed.

they leave them oversized for you, so they fit proper. (after you trim them )

How do I go about "trimming" these? What's the best method?
