24psi + GT35e + stock sleeves =....... (sleevable?)

sleeve in my hand:

Yea, #3 kind of let go, i'll post up the video, but i did still run a 11.2@133.
I just wonder if it can be resleeved? ERL is 20 minutes away from me, so just makes me wonder.

My block looked somewhat like that.. Yours is a little bit worse, but i had mine resleeved with Darton MID sleeves by Darton. Darton cuts the entire stock sleeve out so if it didnt crack your actual block then i think it is resleeveable. good luck with the rebuild.

the #3 cylinder always runs hottest/leanest due to 2 combustion events occuring around it before it fires... this is most likely the problem. the cure would be to datalog egt's in all cylinders and adjust injector trim for each individual injector
the car dynoed 480whp @ 19psi reving to 8500.
it made 397whp@13-14psi reving to 9500.
at the track I was at 24psi in 3rd & 4th gear reving to 9500.
I knew it was coming, just had seen people push it and thought i'll try the same. I have a spare b18a block and a know a guy at ERL currently selling a superdeck 2 b16 bored to 84mm, so i may just jump on that. if this block is garbage.
Time per datalogs was 15.5 degrees at anything over 18psi. timing per romeditor was 17.5 degrees. still pretty conservative compared to what alot of the locals run around here. I don't relaly see this as a tuning issue, as the tops of the pistons are detonation free. this is just one of those, when making 550whp on stock sleeves, sometimes they get pissed and let go. I probably should have pulled out timing a little more, but anything over 500whp is a ticking bomb.

build the damm motor then boost the crap outta it!</TD></TR></TABLE>
this engine was built 3 yrs ago. it has the small bolt arp eagle rods with endyn 81.5mm pistons. 3yrs ago, people told me if i planned to go over 300whp i should sleeve it. I thought that was nuts, and i set my goal of 300whp. this past winter, i thought 300whp wasn't enough so thought 500whp would be fun and thought with all the guys doing it, lets see if i can do it. well i lasted through alot of street pulls, 10-15 1/8th miles and almost 1 1/4 mile

Well when they sleeve it they cut out most of that material, so I don't know why they couldn't do it. When you get it apart take it to Sean at ERL and see what he thinks since he's close.
yea, i just need to start pulling it out. I was goign to start ordering pistons/rods, etc so i could have everything ready to have ERL assemble it for me, but guess i should get it out of the car first.
right now i just have alot of options.
1. sleeve b18c block
2. sleeve b18a block
3. put ls crank in b18c block
4. buy superdeck2 b16 block, put ls crank in that block.

IMO, tuning nor power was the problem here. I forsee this as a combination of high side load on the cylinders caused by running it to such high rpm's.
On a side note, why are you ditching the pistons/rods combo? Not satisfied?

you know i was thinking about that sideload too form the fast piston speed. But then again, you look at user "andrea" who makes 654whp on stock sleeves and they are reving high as well. I think once you get over 500whp on stock sleeves its a ticking time bomb.
for the piston/rod combo: I'm going to retain Endyn pistons, just move to 84mm. for rods, the eagle rods worked perfectly and I'm sure as soon as I pull the pistons out of the engine, that they will be within spec, so I'll probably end up selling the pistons/rods for like 250bucks just to get ride of them. I'm going manley just for peace of mind, the eagles can handle high hp, but with having CTR cams in the head, the power band is running to 8800+rpms. If i end up moving to a bigger turbo, that will probably shift upward, so i still want to be able to rev the engine.
I have found a sleeved block that's ready to go. Sean happens to have a B16 superdeck 2 that will go nicely with my crank and new pistons to allow me to have a 2.0L with alot better strength. Also comes with the imfamous ERL 5pt girdle. I'll most more picks as I get stuff ordered.
i haven't decided what crank i'm going to use yet, I can reuse my GSR crank, or use the LS crank i have. I know that the GSR crank could be sold with my old pistons & rods to try and recoup some costs. But i plan to drop off a pile of parts to ERL next week and let Sean & Jeff create me something that will laugh at 500whp and demand more
