Default Serious Weight Reduction.

Hey,

Ok my project for this weekend is some more weight reduction. I want to get under 2000lbs with my K swap.

Rules:

- I'm keeping my door panels, dash, rear quarter panels, pillars and headliner.
- I need to pass visual inspection

What I've done so far:

- No heater core, fan blower
- No backseats
- No AC
- No PS
- No Spare Tire/etc

What I'm Gonna Do:

- Remove carpet IF 2 floor mats are lighter
- Remove the Dynamat I installed last year
- Cut all the metal I can off my door while still securing window regulator
- Gut the expletive out of the back of my dash
- Remove Tar on Floor
- Firewall mat behind dash

What else, I need some ideas. It needs to be pass visual instpection. But I mean, I can cover everything up with my panels etc.

Oh yeah, just free stuff I can do.

Remove sound-deadening material (tar)... good for approximately -10 lbs., I believe...

Get rid of ANY metal that is hidden by panels.

How about spare tire well? Cut it out and weld in a flat peice of aluminum.

Bumper supports?

Get rid of your stereo system. Head unit and all. 2000pounds is hard to come by so every little bit counts. 16 ft of 4 guage power wire is easily 5 lbs.

Good luck

those all do help a lot, but I think he's focusing on things he can take out, not things he has to buy.

then keep your radio, and 2 front speakers. it won't add much, and you'll still have something to listen to.

go to walmart and pick up a lawnmower batter that has 220ccas or over. mine weighs 12lbs. and it happens to fit perfectly in the oem brackets.

im assuming this is a hatch right? what trim level? is it already a cx?

how much weight can you cut off the doors while still allowing the windows to roll and keeping the panels?

Is this a daily driven car? If so why worry THAT much about weight? If your worried about weight so much dump it ALL! It seemed like your first post you were willing to do anything now you dont want to lose your system(amp, subs blah blah). Go ***** out if you wanna lose weight! **** you prolly won't even be able to hear a tune anyways with nothing in your car!

the only thing that sucks with the lawnmower battery is you have to find some way to deal with the funny little terminals. youll see what im talking about when you see one.

does the dx have the rear whiper? power mirrors? power windows?

that works too what i did just costs less than $25 but for peace of mind you would be better off doing that. saves more weight than a cf hood....
