Nitto NT01
A friend of mine was poking on the Nitto site and "discovered" these new tires and thought you guys might be interested in them.
From the Nitto site: http://www.nittotire.com/tires_nt01_features.asp
Here's a brief article I found while searching on HT.

Discount Tire direct also has them in stock now:

(You won't find "bling" sizes either.) A look [b]at the NT01 size chart reveals that this tire is designed predominantly for heavier bread-and-butter musclecars.[b/b]</TD></TR></TABLE>
Unless there is some one using a RWD V8 here I'd wait til they designed and tire for the FWD 4cyl weekend crew.

I don't think so. It sounds like you are referring to the advice provided by the Popular Hotrodding guys (see link to article, above) rather than the Grassroots Motoring guys. If GRM helped, I think you would see a lot more tire sizes for smaller wheels; as the article notes, the sizes produced are instead geared towards the muscle car set.

Also on discount direct tire, they have an unfamiliar (to me) wheel offered called simply "Competition".

http://www.discounttiredirect....4-100
However in searching for "real" data, namely the weight, neither Discount Direct, nor MB Wheels, the manufacturer, has it posted. The pdf file at MB Wheels simply has the weight listed as N/A. How about SOL? That would make more sense right?
It doesn't look promising though, judging by the other wheels listed within their "Motorsports Wheel Specifications" section.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, I emailed them to find out what the weight is, and I'll be glad to pass that information along IF I get it.

i believe when i looked at that particular wheel, it was pretty f'in heavy. 21.3 lbs in a 17x7. i don't remember where i got the info on it though.
i'm guessing a 15 would be 16 lbs or so.

Those wheels look like the Final Speed Hyper Cast wheels from this company (minus the stickers) http://www.hotstuff-cp.co.jp/p...ct=20.

That tire pressure seems too high! I run the Nitto NT-555RII (275/40-17) at 34psi front and 32 psi rear with around a 3380lb total weight. Now the new NT-01 might be a different tire, and you are using a smaller diameter/higher profile tire. But the Nitto NT-555RII's usually run best in the low-mid 30psi range on large heavy cars...And my Camaros ride is smoother than my brothers Integras (205/50-15 Hankook R-S2 Z212 at daily driver pressure 35psi F/ 30 R) yet responds just as fast, holds a lot more G's, and actually is faster at autocrosses.
If the NT-01's are an improvement on the NT-555RII then you will like them - Grip! (well it's an R-compound tire, duh!), good wear characteristic (2 track weekends, 2 evolution schools, over half a dozen autocrosses, ~2000 miles on the road and now they are just to the wear bars yet still sticky as ever), daily drivable, and very decent wet performance. The only thing about the NT-555RII is the steering response - they are slower than 245/50-16 Yokohama ES-100s in that regard. The NT-01's are supposed to be better in steering response though.

i actually drove the car with 30psi for a little bit..
response sucked...but soaking up little bumps ont he road was good
i didnt care for the latter so i inflated to 42f
its got a similar feel to the kumho ecsta v700
you can throw anything at it and it would take it easily
yank hard on the wheel and itll yank you back on the seat
ill try it out tomorrow at our autox event
ill prolly get 15-20 laps on a minute long course

That's probably a bit of an overstatement, but when Nitto was in the early planning stages for the NT-01 we all went to lunch at Chili's. We discussed popular cars, SCCA, NASA, stuff like that. Neat to see the tire out now, a couple of years later. I think they have some more ideas in the works, as they have been asking more questions. We had a good meeting at the PRI Show, and the Nitto guys spent a lot of time talking with the SCCA's Howard Duncan.
