2 stroke engine problem dono if this is the place to post?
Alright well first I looked every place on this forum and could not find a place for dirtbikes/atv's. I normally post in the civic section but i do also have a atv. Anyway i have a 2 stroke blaster to be exact and I let it sit for a year or so with no starts what so ever. Well today i went out wanted to get it running again and it would not start so i did the usual and cleaned the carb, drained the old gas and put new gas in and changed the spark plug. Well here is the problem it wont start and i took the spark plug out and it looks brand new no marks of gas being sent into the cyl i guess you would say.. I was going to check to see if it has spark but its hard to kick it over with just one person and yet still look at the plug.. Could that be the problem though no spark or would it be something elts?
If there was no spark, the plug would be wet when you pulled it after trying to start it.
Spray the plug with starting fluid and put it in. Then start the bike. It sounds to me like it's not getting fuel. The plug shouldn't be clean and dry, that is for sure.

Thats what my friend said no fuel so that is why i tryed cleaning the carb and made sure the petcock worked.... they both came out ok, is there any way while the carb is on the bike to tell if fuel is making it though or look at the carb to see if fuel is making it though?

Sometimes they have problems priming themselves. Do like z said and add a little fuel or starter fluid to the cylinder and try again. Having a friend to push start is also helpful in case the problem is that you are a wuss.

Pull the fuel line off the tank and open the petcock just to see if gas is making it out. If it is, try priming the carb or just spraying the plug with the starting fluid.
When bikes sit for a while, especially 2-strokes they get hard as hell to start sometimes.

Yeah i talked to another guy and he said take the carb off and spray some gas in there, and it should atleast start but turn rite off... so im going to give that a shot tom. there is no primer button there is a choke to pull out but that does not help. I really dont think the push starting thing will do much i can kick the heck out of the bike and not even the slightest sign of it starting.... Im hoping its the fuel problem and i can order new jets and pop them in there.... If im not mistaken carbs dont really go bad do they? only the parts inside them rite.

Jets can't go bad either, the only thing that can go bad on a carb are rubber seals. The jets can get clogged though. Push starting is better than kicking because you can get it to turn over and keep turning over until you come to a stop. Kicking it over you get one crank at a time. Trust me, it's easier to get it going by push starting it.

I doubt it, but reeds don't really go bad. If they are still in one piece, they are fine.

I work on small engies all the time.. unscrew the spark plug and keep it in the ingnition holder.. then set the plug on the metal of the engine and check for spark.. i highly doubt its a plug though if the its that hard to kick i bet the pistion and rings are shot.. and there is scaring in the cylinder, make sure your mixing the gas and oil to the correct amouth cuz you will blow it up
You need to take pictures dude.. clean the spark plug with some gas and file it down a little bit.. make sure your fuel line is on and that gas is going to the carb 1st.. and that its not on reserve.. if you think its the carb... check the jets to make sure there not clogged... its really hard to just to see if gas is flowing right in your carb though..
Fuel comes out of the fuel lines, thus is how i drained the gas to put new gas in, i cleaned the carb took all the jets out and replaced them, i dont think the rings and piston is shot because i am getting some compression when i stick my finger in the spark plug hole i can feel it, The plug is comming out clean every time, i have not tryed the spraying gas in the cyl yet because i work till late in the day and have class in the mornings but tom. i will... Fuel is obviously not getting to the cyl. because the plug is comming out looking brand new rite? even if lets say the rings and piston were bad wouldnt it still put some color on the plug?
umm.. it woulndnt effect the color of the plug.. i dunno man thats fucked upp.. seems lile somthing in your carb... take it apart and rebuild it... thats all i can say dude.. the plug should have some oil on it if it doesnt somthings wrong..
Have you checked the reeds...It is possible although unlikely that they are shut completely. If they arent opening then you wont get any air in the cylinder. Thus no fuel. If that is not the case then your carb is not functioning properly, if you keep trying to kick start the engine and it doesn't start you should be flooding the spark plug with enough gas that it wouldn't start anyways. You may need to spray some gas in the cylinder and push start it like it has been suggested.

#1 turn on the fuel with the hose dosconnected, do you have fuel?
#2 Are you sure that the carb is clean and everything assembled the correct way. Slide in the right way, jets clean, float not sticking?
#3 if a reed is not shut properly this will not stop air it will stop fuel/air. If the plug is not wet there is no fuel. A knackerd reed will make the bike fluffy, it should still fire. Is the reed wet?
#4 Is there fuel getting into the float bowl, fill it manually then kick it over, the plug should get wet.
#5 The best way to start it would be rolling it down a hill if it wont fire on the kick start, full choke no throttle at all until it catches.

Alright i took the carb off and sprayed gas into the cyl. manually and it started but only for a secound...... I checked the carb and gas is making it into the bowl.... so oviously it is in the carb because with the carb on it doesnt even seem like it wants to turn over at all.... what could it be in the carb is my question?
where are the reeds???? all the jet should not be clogged i took them all out and carb cleaner sprayed rite though them
OK im getting really upset here, I took the carb off again and cleaned the hell out of it, put it back on and still wouldnt work!! So then i tryed the spraying gas in the cyl. and guess what it turned over again and ran for about 10 sec.... How do i tell if the reeds are bad AND if they were bad then when i spray gas in the cyl. wouldnt it not start? I dont want to have to take the bike to a shop, i hate having to do that when i should be just as capable to fix it as they are... PLEASE HELP!

Ok I haven't read the thread, but you say that it started after you put gas directly into the cylinder? Are your gas lines clear?
