I have been helping a friend swap a D16A6 from a 91 Civic Si into an 89 CRX DX. This swap included a conversion from the CRX Dual Point Fuel Injection to MPFI with the Si motor and also automatic to manual.
We swapped over the Si motor, engine harness, dash harness, gauge cluster, interior and engine fuse boxes. Basically all the guts of the Si except for the rear harness are now in the CRX.
The problem is the tachometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge DO NOT WORK. As well as the fuel pump doesn't get power either. However the rear running lights work but not the brake lights, reverse lights, or turning lights.
We hard wired the fuel pump with a switch and the car drives fine! The cluster is getting power because all the lights on it work. CEL, Battery, seat belt lights etc. power up when key is turned on.
We've have tried swapping between the CRX AND Si cluster, as well as both dash harnesses in every conceivable combination! Both clusters power up, but gauges still do not work. All fuses are good, all grounds have been checked, and all clips are plugged in.
We need some serious help! Can I use the chassis harness in the CRX now or do I need to swap the Si chassis harness?

If you swap an engine, the engine harness, the dash harness, the engine fuse box, the cabin fuse box, the gauge cluster AND the ECU, there should be no reason why these things dont work. Especially when everything plug in without any issues. Everything that's anything important has been swapped over. What are we missing here?
Does anybody have any ideas?

check your grounds. When dealing with switching out this much of the wiring its a common error.

We got it figured out. A clip was plugged into the wrong connector.
