This is very common.

Harbor freight trailer + A Contico storage box from Home depot + a class one hitch.
As complicated as a peanut butter sandwich.

i wish i could afford a lil tire hitch but i can't. I managed to fit all 4 in my car. 3 in the passenger seat, 1 in the trunk and i still had room for tools, pads, rotors, some food/water, etc...

This is how I used to haul tires in the integra.

I do the same in the Focus, but after the last rain autocross, I'm looking into getting a trailer. Having my car smell like funk for a week wasn't fun.

A trailer really is a good idea. Not to mention the whole rain deal, what is going to happen if you get in an accident and you've got a set of tires and a jack in your backseat? An added bonus is that you can lock up your crap while you are running.

the hitch and hardware weighs too much. i throw everything in the car. its easier now in the hatch, but i could fit 4 tires, a jack, cooler, weekend bag, tools, spare dizzy, and various other odds and ends in my coupe and still have room for a passenger. the hatch can fit 10 tires plus all that other chit minus the passenger.

In an MR2, I put two tires side by side on the passenger seat, one on top of that, put the t-top back on, and then put the fourth tire in the spare compartment up front.

I don't have a hatch, and got tired of shoving all my stuff into the coupe, and started running out of room and patience; so I got one of these from TireTail:

You think so?
In the absolute rear of a FWD car?
Try throwing one on and then scaling the car. You'd be surprised at what little difference it makes, and its a legal way to further stiffen the rear, which is a good thing.

Wait to kill the hooker until she is *out* of the car next time.

How stable are those mounts? I have a friend who has just started autocrossing a Del Sol and he may have race wheels and tires in his future. With the spece restriction of a Del Sol, a system like this of a little trailer is going to be needed.

What exhuast and trailer hitch are you running? I bought a world sport 2 exhaust, but won't fit with my hidden hitch, so I bought a draw-tite which looks like it should work by the design.

I also tow with my 00 civic si. I tow my kart and a bunch of other stuff on a 5x8 trailer while loaded it probably weights about 700-800 lb. No problem at all towing it.

If anybody close to atlanta needs a tire trailer I have one for sale for $100 since I just got my 5x8.

Very stable. I've used it about 15 times or so this season without a problem; and have taken it 3 hrs (one way) on the highway without a problem 3 or 4 times.

My suspension is very stiff in the rear (500lb), so over some bumps, you can hear the tires bounce up and down, since the tube they sit on is smaller than the hub, but you get used to it; and it takes quite a big bump for that to happen.

I went with this instead of a trailer, becuase I live in an apartment downtown and lucky I even have a spot to put my car. It was also much cheaper, and I don't have to register / insure it either. I couldn't be happier with it.

Running RS*R EX-Mag with a Da'lan (sp?) hitch, which is the brand sold through TT's website. I'm pretty sure it's the same design as the hidden hitch, plenty of clearance; I'd have to look, but I don't think it's even anywhere near the exhaust, it angles up pretty steeply to bolt to the frame rails.

have you ever compared laptimes between a car that has a better weight distribution vs. one that is lighter? i'll take lighter and less good weight distribution every day thank you.

Tiretail says they only make them for Miata's WRX etc
which one did you purchase for it to fit the EM1 SiR coupe? 96/00

Also i'm curious as to the ends of the tires what keeps the tires secure when in travel?

"...wheels are held secure with zinc plated washers and D-wire locking pins."

The Da'lan hitch that the tiretail people sell weighs 14 pounds for the Miata application. That's still 14 pounds that wouldn't be there otherwise, but we Miata folk don't have room for four tires without some kind of trailer or a tiretail.

I contacted Sean, who runs the company, and asked if he had an application for my car. He didn't, so I sent him some dimensions and he fabbed it up for me. I sent him some pics to put up for the applications page; I figured they'd be up by know. I know he was also working on applications for other vehicles as well.

In my 97 Civic coupe I was able to carry:

4 Tires (I removed the spare)
1 hydrolic jack
1 EZ-UP shade
2 lawn chairs
2 overnight bags
1 cooler
2 tool boxes
1 bag of track goodies (crackers cookies, etc)
spare rotors & pads

I used to get all kinds of comments like "what else are you gonna pull out of that car?"

"How many clowns can you fit in there?"

Same here, but after awhile it gets old trying to contort yourself to get everything in the back seat.

I've been thinking about the trailer for a long time:
1. takes a load off your suspension
2. makes it easier AND quicker to pack everything up
3. saves your interior from wear and tear (I have a couple big nicks from my EZUP)
4. when you get older saves your back

I've noticed now when packing up my 1991 Civic Si with my tires/wheels, gear, jack, tools, and such I cannot close my driver's side door very well. Like the car is flexing with all the weight in it.
